The NYC Marathon is fast approaching, and our very own Hillary Wilson is preparing to take on the five-borough, 26.2-mile course!

With only 60 days left to help Hillary reach her fundraising goal, there’s still time to show your support. Hillary is raising funds for Project Purple, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting pancreatic cancer by providing financial assistance to patients and families, raising awareness, and funding research.

There are two ways you can support Hillary and Project Purple:

1. Donate directly: Click the link below to contribute to Hillary’s fundraising campaign: https://fundraisers.hakuapp.com/hillary-wilson

2. Enjoy Krispy Kreme for a cause: Purchase a dozen Krispy Kreme Doughnuts for $15, with proceeds supporting Project Purple: https://www.groupraise.com/oc/78214/5TD4TJ?utm_source=Klaviyo&utm_medium=email&_kx=ocFti8veZCwvh5hDXk1M16IJfnhntdD7ncdJsOkMnLKi7LYpePhYcWbhoiRmDO2t.W4E4MB -form

Every donation and every dozen helps Hillary get closer to her goal while supporting the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Help Hillary reach her fundraising goal for Project Purple! 💜 🏃‍♀️‍➡️

August is National Wellness Month!

As families head back to school, now is a great time to make a checklist that prioritizes your heart health.

How many of these can you check off?

- Blood pressure checked?
- Cholesterol screening up to date?
- Medications reviewed?
- Staying active?
- New symptoms addressed?
- Risk factors under control?
- Cardiology follow-up scheduled?

Small steps can help you stay proactive about your cardiovascular health. As summer winds down, take a moment to check in with yourself and make sure important screenings, medications, and appointments aren't getting pushed aside.

Don’t ignore the signs of heart failure.

Heart failure is a chronic condition that occurs when the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently enough to meet the body’s needs. It does not mean the heart has stopped working.

Signs and symptoms of heart failure may include:

❤️ Shortness of breath during everyday activities or when lying down
❤️ Swelling in the feet, ankles, legs, or abdomen
❤️ Persistent fatigue or lack of energy
❤️ Sudden weight gain caused by fluid retention
❤️ A dry, persistent cough or wheezing

Heart failure can develop for many reasons, including high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, previous heart attacks, heart muscle or valve problems, arrhythmias, diabetes, and obesity.

Protect Your Heart This Summer 💙

Summer is a great time to get outside, but extreme heat can put extra strain on your heart, especially if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, heart failure, or other cardiovascular conditions.

Here are four simple ways to stay heart healthy this summer:

1. Plan outdoor activities wisely: Exercise, garden, or tackle yard work in the early morning or evening, and avoid the hottest part of the day (typically noon to 3 p.m.).

2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water before, during, and after spending time outdoors.

3. Dress for the heat: Choose lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton.

4. Know the warning signs: Dizziness, headache, nausea, excessive fatigue, or a racing heartbeat may be signs of heat exhaustion. If symptoms become severe or include chest pain, difficulty breathing, or fainting, seek medical attention immediately.

June is Men's Health Month. 💙

Did you know that heart disease is the leading cause of death for men in the United States?

▪️Heart disease is responsible for approximately 1 in every 4 male deaths each year.

▪️Men are statistically less likely to visit a doctor or receive annual checkups than women.

▪️ Preventive care is the first line of defense against severe, chronic heart disease and can help identify risk factors before they become serious health concerns.

Taking proactive steps today can make a significant difference in your long-term well-being.

June 1–7 is CPR & AED Awareness Week!

Did you know that immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival after a heart attack? With nearly 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring at home, knowing what to do in an emergency could help save the life of someone you love.

While CPR and AEDs are essential during a cardiac emergency, maintaining good heart health is equally important. Taking proactive steps to manage your cardiovascular health can help reduce your risk of heart disease and related complications.

May is Blood Pressure Education Month! High blood pressure is often called the “silent killer” because it can develop without noticeable symptoms while increasing your risk for heart attack and stroke. During Blood Pressure Awareness Month, take a moment to know your numbers and prioritize your heart health. ❤️

Blood pressure categories:
* Normal: Less than 120/80 mmHg
* Elevated: 120–129 systolic and less than 80 diastolic
* Hypertension Stage 1: 130–139 systolic or 80–89 diastolic
* Hypertension Stage 2: 140 or higher systolic or 90 or higher diastolic
* Hypertensive Crisis: Higher than 180 systolic and/or higher than 120 diastolic

Regular blood pressure screenings can help detect problems early and support long-term heart health.
