A question I get all the time: "How long is the downtime after a CO₂ laser?"

For this patient, we performed a moderate CO₂ laser treatment. Most patients can expect about 7 days of downtime, with redness, swelling, and peeling during the healing process.

The first week is all about recovery. The weeks that follow are when the real magic happens as new collagen forms and skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin quality continue to improve.

A week of downtime for results that can last for months? Most of my patients say it's well worth it.

I'm not even being dramatic, she grabbed a section of my hair and said "what are you doing differently?" So here it is.

Two things. That's it.

If your Botox doesn't feel like it's lasting as long or working as well as it used to, you're not imagining it. Here's what might be going on.

1. You're waiting too long between appointments. When you stretch your treatments out too far, your muscles go right back to full movement. That means your injector is starting from scratch every time instead of maintaining. Consistency is everything.

2. Your dose needs to be adjusted. Your face changes over time, your muscles, your skin, all of it. What worked two years ago might not be the right amount anymore. A good injector reassesses every visit.

3. You're stressed and not sleeping. Seriously. Stress and lack of sleep increase muscle tension, especially in your forehead and between your brows. Your Botox is working, your stress is just working harder.

4. Your skincare routine isn't supporting it. Botox handles the movement. But if your skin isn't hydrated, protected, and taken care of on top of that, the overall result won't look the same.

5. You might be building a tolerance, but probably not how you think. This is the one that surprises people. True Botox resistance is actually really rare. What most people experience is one of the four things above. But in some cases, your body can develop antibodies that make it less effective. If you've ruled everything else out, it's worth a conversation with your injector about switching up the product.

The good news? Most of this is fixable with a few small changes.
