💜 Living on the Edge: A Night of Connection, Education & Support 💜

This week, Cancer Services hosted our 22nd Annual Living on the Edge GYN Cancer Survivors Conference—an evening filled with meaningful conversations, expert education, connection, and plenty of heart. 💜

Guests enjoyed visits with therapy dogs, delicious recipe samples prepared by dietitians from Novant Health Cancer Institute and Atrium Health Cancer Institute, and dinner from Little Richards BBQ, while learning from an incredible group of speakers:

💜 September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month 💜

September is a time to raise awareness about all gynecologic cancers and the importance of prevention, early detection and knowing your risk.

🎗️ An estimated 117,660 people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer in 2026.

While not all gynecologic cancers can be prevented, you can take steps to help reduce your risk:
✔️ Get the HPV vaccine ✔️ Stay up to date on Pap tests and pelvic exams ✔️ Maintain a healthy weight

💜🧶 Handmade with Love 🧶💜

A heartfelt thank you to the Salemtowne Knitting & Crochet Group for creating beautiful handmade hats and lap blankets for Cancer Services patients. Each item was crafted with care, comfort, and love. 💜

The hats and turbans were made even more special with intricate handmade flowers, donated in memory of a beloved Salemtowne employee whose nephew recently passed away.

These thoughtful gifts are a beautiful reminder of how kindness, creativity, and love can bring comfort and hope to those facing cancer. Thank you, Salemtowne Knitting & Crochet Group, for sharing your talents and your hearts with our community! 💜
