Lumira Pediatrics

Lumira Pediatrics Functional and integrative pediatric care for complex concerns across Florida, plus local newborn home visits and membership-based primary care.

Lumira Pediatrics is a pediatric practice led by Dr. Irissa Rosario, a physician double board-certified in general pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine. We provide functional and integrative medicine consultations for children with complex, persistent, or interconnected concerns, including eczema, allergies, digestive symptoms, feeding difficulties, frequent illness, and more. Consultations

are available by telemedicine throughout Florida and in person for families in Central Florida. Lumira Pediatrics also offers local in-home newborn visits, feeding and weight support, tongue-tie evaluation and release, newborn circumcision, and limited-enrollment primary care memberships. Our approach combines conventional pediatric medicine with thoughtful, evidence-informed care that looks at the whole child rather than treating each symptom in isolation. I do not contract with insurance. Visits are direct-pay, and I can provide a superbill for out-of-network benefits. Please avoid sharing private medical details via Facebook messages. For urgent concerns, call your child’s pediatrician or seek urgent/emergency care.

The formula aisle is overwhelming.
And marketing doesn’t make it easier.

Different formulas solve different problems.

For most healthy, full-term babies, a standard infant formula is a good place to start. I generally look for:

1. Lactose as the main carbohydrate
2. Palm olein-free, when possible
3. Added prebiotics
4. No corn syrup solids or maltodextrin as the main carbohydrate unless your baby needs a specialty formula

The “best” formula isn’t necessarily the fanciest one.

That is the work I do as a pediatrician that integrates functional and integrative medicine into my care.

1. I help you find the root cause of why the symptoms keep coming back — not just quiet them for a few weeks.
2. I take my time and listen to your child’s whole story so I can connect the dots that a seven-minute visit will always miss.
3. I have a practice full of satisfied parents and thriving children.
4. My discovery calls are free.

If you have been Googling at midnight, second-guessing “wait and see,” or collecting specialists without answers — you may be my kind of parent.

Comment ROOT or send me a message, and I will share the link to book your free discovery call.

You know this child.

The one whose symptoms never fit neatly into one box. The one who has seen specialist after specialist, but you still feel like a piece is missing.

These are the kids I love caring for.

After 12+ years as a pediatrician, academic attending, and hospitalist, I learned to love the complicated cases. Functional medicine gave me another lens for them.

Not just: “What diagnosis fits these symptoms?”

But also: “Why is this happening in this child?”

Genetics matter. But for many pediatric conditions, they’re only one piece of the puzzle. Nutrition, immune function, the microbiome, environment, sleep, stress, development, and exposures can matter too.

That’s where my work lives:

🩺 Pediatric expertise
🔬 Evidence-informed medicine
🧩 Functional medicine
👧🏽 Whole-child care

I’m not choosing between conventional pediatrics and functional medicine.

I use both.

Sometimes the answer is medication. Sometimes it’s removing a trigger. Sometimes it’s finding what was missed.

And sometimes, it’s finally connecting the dots.

Good medicine starts with good questions.

You could have your baby checked at home by a board-certified pediatrician. I’m Dr Rosario, and I come to you so that you can recover and b focus on bonding with your baby.

FAQs
Q. I already have a pediatrician, can you see my baby for just one or 2 times so I can stay home the first few visits?
A. Yes! I’ll fax a summary of care to your chosen P*P when you’re ready.

Q. What do you do?
A. Everything that would be done in the clinic! Weight, jaundice check, full exam, evaluation of latch and help with breastfeeding, answer all of your questions.

Q. How long are the visits?
A. About 60 minutes, I take my time so you can be heard and feel comfortable with baby care.

Q. Do you take insurance?
A. I do not because insurance is designed for shorter visits ~15 min in the clinic, not hour long visits in your home.

Q. Do you do circumcisions? Tongue tie release?
A. Yes, and under the right conditions they can be done in your home.

Q. How do I work with you?
A. Schedule a Meet & Greet before your baby is born.

Some mothers cannot breastfeed. Some choose not to. Some families combo feed. However your baby is fed, you deserve helpful information without guilt or judgment.

Every formula sold in the U.S. must meet federal nutrient requirements, but they are not all made the same. The ingredients used to meet those requirements can differ, and those differences may affect digestion, stooling, and the developing gut microbiome.

Three things I look at:
1️⃣ Prebiotics — they feed beneficial bacteria like Bifidobacteria. Types and amounts vary, and some formulas contain none.

2️⃣ Carbohydrate source — lactose is the primary carb in human milk. Without a medical reason to avoid it, I generally prefer lactose over corn syrup solids or maltodextrin.

3️⃣ Fat blend — palm olein is used in many formulas but may reduce calcium and fat absorption and contribute to firmer stools in some babies.

Ingredients are only part of the decision. Your baby’s medical needs, growth, tolerance, allergies, availability, and your budget matter too.

Eczema that keeps flaring, chronic constipation, reflux, recurrent infections, slow growth etc, these usually aren’t random. They’re often connected and have cause.

Here at Lumira Pediatrics, we want to help find those root-causes and understand what’s keeping the cycle going. Not just managing a symptom, but asking what’s driving it: a real history, the whole child in view, and tailor the work up individually based on your child’s story.

Sometimes the cause is straightforward and the fix is simple. Sometimes it takes longer. Either way you leave with clarity and a plan you can follow, by combining years of pediatric expertise with functional medicine.

No chasing diagnoses. No unnecessary testing. Careful attention to your child, and a reason behind every decision.

I’m Dr. Rosario—a double board-certified pediatrician. I practice pediatric functional medicine, built on 12 years of deep-dive problem-solving as a hospitalist.

What I do is help families connect the dots across body systems—to understand what was the setup, what was the trigger, and what’s keeping the symptoms going.

If that’s the kind of answer you’ve been looking for, the first step is a discovery call.
