Eating out and wondering if you’re overdoing it?

A learner in our GFG community asked exactly this and honestly, it’s one of the most common questions we get.

The answer isn’t a hard number. It’s a framework.

Swipe to see how we think about it 👉

And if you want a space where you can ask questions like this about your actual life & eating habits …that’s what the GFG course and community is for.

This is something we often think about.

Think about it, if they understood nutrition they wouldn’t be recommending one food or diet for everyone.

Imagine explaining the carnivore diet to your toothless 87 year old mom or dad.

You deserve guidance that’s rooted in science, built around real life by qualified nutrition professionals who exist. In social media it’s hard to see this but plenty of actual experts do exist🙋🏻‍♀️

If psyllium husk turned into a jelly blob on you… you’re not alone 😅

Skip the struggle & simply sprinkle it into your food & drink water

Simple fibre fix🙋🏻‍♀️

Meen m***a doesn’t need a heavy makeover.

Once you understand that this is already a fat-rich food, specifically omega-3 fatty acids, you stop pouring oil over it and start using it better.

Basic spices. Air fryer or 1–2 tbsp measured oil. Quarter plate alongside your rice, thoran, curry.

That’s food literacy in action, not cutting foods out, not labelling them heavy or light, just understanding what’s already in your food and building your plate around it.

Every ingredient has a place in a balanced meal. Meen m***a, beef, parotta, coconut, ela ada, chakka.. all of it fits.

You just need to know the basics which is exactly what we teach at our Academy. Intrigued? Click the link in the bio and join! It will be the best decision ever 🙂

We’re not asking you to avoid oil or fat.

We’re asking you to know how much you’re using.

15–30ml of added fat per person per day is the recommended range. For a family of 4, that’s 60–120ml in total.

The problem isn’t oil rather it’s the pour.

It’s a rare person who measures oil in a Kerala kitchen. We pour from the bottle, we eyeball, we add a little more because it looks right. And for an already convenience-driven, low-movement lifestyle, this unconscious pour adds up quietly.

Measuring what you need and using a measuring spoon are two habits that will serve you well. Give it a try 🙋🏻‍♀️

Laugh at us or with us for the different things we do in here to get this message across. We don’t mind🙋🏻‍♀️

There’s no end to all the fancy things these grifters say “ball of fire” like really?! That’s how it looks when you learn to look at things critically and with a scientific temperament🤷🏻‍♀️

Our pet peeve is people glorifying individual foods be it kumblanga or broccoli.

Do stay aware and ignore the grifters. All veggies are great. Make it a point to include a variety of them in line with availability, budget, taste preferences, health goals etc.

Our course (link in bio👆) is a great resource for those of you tired of staying stuck in this whole drama of healthy eating. Psst there’s no need for drama🫧

Use the same spice mix be it a Kerala style curry or stew, simply change the pulse.

Think kadala, rajma, black eyed beans, pinto beans, white beans or even soy chunks. All of these can be rotated.

Each pulse brings something slightly different to the table, be it a different fibre, protein profile, different minerals etc. Rotating them is one of the simplest ways to eat more variety without cooking differently.

Save this for your next curry day🙋🏻‍♀️

Is this something you have noticed? These conversations are also playing a role in our daily decisions over food. It’s good to be aware.

There are different aspects to diet and nutrition and our course might be exactly what you are looking for. Especially if you want to move from confusion to clarity 🙋🏻‍♀️
