Angel, where do I even begin… ♥️🪽
7 years ago I had such a strong feeling that I wanted to add a dog to our crazy family, we had cats so finding a gentle dog was key.
I emailed the Stray Dogs Center and said I wanted to adopt an old dog that nobody wanted, well more fool them, but I like to think instead that you waited for us. I’ve thanked you many times over the years for waiting for us.
You were found around age 1 pregnant with 12 puppies. You watched patiently as all your pups found homes but no one came for you. It wasn’t yet time for us to meet.
When we came to the adoption day, you were lying on the floor, people stepped over you to go the puppies and the pedigrees but I looked at you and said “ thats my dog”.
You came with the name Shakira, I knew I wasn’t planning on yelling Shakira into the garden for all the neighbors to hear 😅 so my name for you was Bonnie, in Scotland bonnie means beautiful. But from day 1 you were, and still are, my Angel, it was so natural to call you Angel.
I gave you two weeks to settle with the cats and on day 13 I told you well thats it you are part of the family, but you already knew that.
Then I asked you did you want to be called Shakira, nothing, then I asked about Bonnie, I’d say half a tail wag, then when I said Angel your tail wagged with so much joy it was decided - you took the name you always deserved, Angel. When we did the official adoption paperwork I will never forget, you actually smiled!
You joined us when we had Ralphie, Murphy, Messi and Rosie, only Rosie remains. You were patient with me when Bodhi arrived, when our Snowy pup arrived behaving like a wild wolf! You rolled your eyes at me when we came home with an albino rabbit we named William Wallace who we found wandering the streets in the middle of summer. You behaved like the perfect Grandmother when Sunny joined us, even when he wasn’t always the kindest to you.
You held space for so many of my beautiful clients when I worked from home, everyone missed you when that stopped.
