VENOUS LAKE

A venous lake is a benign (non-cancerous) vascular lesion that commonly appears as a small blue, purple or dark-coloured spot on the lip, particularly the lower lip.

It develops when a superficial blood vessel becomes dilated and is often associated with long-term sun exposure and age-related changes. Venous lakes are usually harmless and do not require treatment; however, some people choose treatment for cosmetic reasons.

This SkinBox patient received one laser treatment with our Senior Dermal Therapist, Jordie Fish | Dermal Therapist . The laser delivers targeted energy to the blood within the vessel, causing controlled coagulation. The treated vessel is then gradually cleared by the body, allowing the lesion to flatten and fade over time.

These before-and-after photographs were taken 3 weeks apart. Further settling may occur over the following 4 to 6 weeks.

Because venous lakes can resemble other pigmented lesions, a diagnosis from a medical practitioner is required before treatment. A consultation is also required to assess suitability and discuss expected outcomes, recovery and possible risks.

This is a varied front-of-house role for someone who genuinely loves helping people feel welcomed, supported and cared for from the moment they contact our clinic.

✨ Part-time | 25–35 hours per week

✨ Doctor-led skin and aesthetics clinic
