That sharp pain in your heel when you take your first steps in the morning?

That’s one of the most common signs of plantar fasciitis — something we see a lot more of as activity levels increase in the spring.

It often develops from:
• Sudden increase in walking or activity
• Poor foot support
• Tight calves and foot muscles

Left untreated, it can stick around for months.

With warmer weather here, our activity levels start to change — often quickly.

After a slower winter, your body isn’t always ready for the sudden increase in movement, which is why we tend to see more injuries this time of year.

Remember to:
• Warm up before activity
• Stretch regularly
• Listen to early signs of tension or discomfort

If something starts to feel off, don’t wait. Addressing it early can prevent it from turning into something more significant.

Common spring & summer injuries we see:
• Low back pain (gardening, yard work)
• Tennis elbow
• Hamstring strains
• Shoulder pain (yard work, lifting, sports)
• Knee pain (returning to running or walking)
• Plantar fasciitis (increase in steps/activity)
• Neck and upper back tension (longer days, more activity, posture changes)
