Join us in warmly welcoming Maud Addai to the Fireweed Midwifery team! 🌸

We are so excited to have her join us and support families with her care, skill and compassion.

-

Maud is a dedicated midwife with a deep passion for supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Maud immigrated to the United Kingdom, where she completed her education as a Registered Nurse and practiced for over four years in Medical, Surgical and Oncology Nursing.

Her love of caring for pregnant and postnatal women inspired her to pursue midwifery and proceeded to earn a Bachelor of Midwifery at the Royal London and the St Bartholomew’s University Hospital in the UK. Maud’s approach to care is rooted in women and family-centred practice, and she values working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure families feel well supported, respected, and empowered.
In 2007, Maud and her family relocated to Canada, first to Saskatchewan, where she registered as an RN whilst completing the required Canadian Certification through the bridging program as an internationally trained midwife in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Over the years, she has had the opportunity to provide midwifery care in several provinces, including Saskatchewan, New Brunswick (Fredericton) and recently Newfoundland and Labrador.

She is passionate about empowering women through their birth journeys, supporting families as they make informed choices. She is committed to providing evidence-based care, offering meaningful emotional support, and promoting physiologic birth whenever possible.

She is now proud to call Fort McMurray home, where she is hoping to continue to support families with compassionate and skilled care.

Maud is a wife, mother to three amazing adult children and has a lovely granddaughter. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, travelling, singing, and cooking.

We are so excited to welcome Charity Wenger to the Fireweed Wellness team! 🌿✨

A message from Charity:
Tansi, my name is Charity Wenger, a proud member of the Bigstone Cree Nation in Treaty 8 Territory. I am a 4th-year midwifery student. I am a mother of eight and grandmother of 3. My life’s work has always been in community and around birthing. I have helped many family and friends in the ceremony of birth for over 20 years. Becoming a registered midwife will enable me to work in a greater capacity for Indigenous families and communities. My passion is to empower mothers to know their strength and help them reclaim safe traditional birthing practices. When I am not catching babies, I enjoy being active and spending time with my family and friends.

Please join us in giving Charity a warm welcome! 💛
