🌿 National Indigenous Peoples Day Closure 🌿

Our centre will be closed on June 19th in observance of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st.

This day is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. It’s a time to reflect on the history and ongoing journey toward reconciliation and respect.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn, listen, and appreciate the diversity and resilience of Indigenous communities.

A few members of our team had the opportunity to attend the Alliance for Healthier Communities / Alliance pour des communautés en santé Conference in Toronto, where this year's theme was "Attachment for Everyone: Centring Health Equity in Ontario's Primary Health Care Expansion."

The conference provided valuable learning opportunities and highlighted the incredible work being done by Community Health Centres and primary care organizations across the province. Our staff left inspired by the innovative programs, partnerships, and community-driven approaches helping to improve health outcomes and advance health equity in Ontario.

We're grateful for opportunities to learn, connect, and bring new ideas back to the communities we serve. 💙

A huge thank you to Roelands Plant Farms Inc. for their generous donation of vegetable and herb plants to participants in our Opening Doors Program! 🌱💚

Through Opening Doors, North Lambton Community Health Centre has been providing home gardening supplies, education, and ongoing support to individuals and families across Lambton County to encourage home gardening and build confidence in growing food at home. From learning how to plant and care for a garden to harvesting fresh produce, participants are gaining valuable skills that promote health, independence, and connection to their food.

At a time when many households are experiencing the impacts of rising food costs and increasing food insecurity, initiatives like this are more important than ever. Access to fresh, nutritious food is a key determinant of health, and growing even a small garden can help stretch grocery budgets, increase access to healthy foods, and foster a sense of accomplishment and well-being.

Thanks to the generosity of Roeland's Plant Farm, our participants will have the opportunity to grow fresh vegetables and herbs for themselves and their families this season. Together, we are planting more than gardens, we are planting knowledge, confidence, resilience, and hope.

Thank you, Roeland's Plant Farm, for helping us open doors to healthier communities, one plant at a time. 🌿🍅🥕
