Summer is here and so are our barbecue fundraisers! 🍔

Join us for the first of the season, hosted by our Community Inclusion Program on June 16th from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A big thank-you to our sponsors, Braithwaite’s Upholstery and RE/MAX Saskatoon, for their support!

Stop by the Kinsmen Manor (2012 Arlington Avenue), grab a delicious lunch, and support a good cause. All proceeds go directly back into the Community Inclusion Program, helping to enrich the lives of those we serve. 💖

June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day (NIPD)! In recognition of this important day, Elmwood’s Community Inclusion Program (CIP) will be creating and selling orange shirts. 🧡

Three unique designs are available, swipe to check them out, along with sizing and pricing details!

These shirts are made by Elmwood residents as part of CIP’s Entrepreneur Group, and 100% of profits will be donated to the Saskatoon Tribal Council. ✨

For this month’s Goal Spotlight, we’re celebrating Tanya, who achieved her exciting goal of going on a staycation back in March! ✨

Tanya enjoyed a relaxing getaway at the Travelodge alongside Christina from our Recreation team. Their stay was extra special in the “Under the Sea” themed room!

Of course, no staycation is complete without a full calendar. Tanya treated herself to a shopping spree at Lawson Heights Mall and delicious meals out for breakfast and supper. 🛍🍴

To top it all off, the ladies enjoyed a refreshing swim in the hotel pool.

It’s National AccessAbility Week! ✨

This week, we celebrate the achievements, contributions, and leadership of people with disabilities across Canada. The 2026 theme, “Building a Strong, Accessible Canada,” reminds us that accessibility is the foundation of communities where everyone can thrive.

Accessibility isn’t optional, it’s essential. Barriers - whether physical, attitudinal, social, technological, or informational - can shape how people experience and participate in everyday life. Removing these barriers is key to creating true inclusion. 💖

We believe accessibility is a shared responsibility. By learning, listening, and taking meaningful action together, we can build a more inclusive future. When barriers are removed, we create opportunities, spark innovation, and strengthen connections or everyone.

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who supported our Mother Earth Greenhouses fundraiser by purchasing a gift card! Thanks to your generosity, we raised $800 to help make our Community Homes bloom with beautiful flowers in no time. 🌷

Our Manager of Community Engagement, Jen, took a trip to Mother Earth Greenhouse to pick up the gift cards and even enjoyed some of their fun features (including the farm animals!). If you haven’t visited yet, we highly recommend stopping by, it’s a wonderful place to be.

Thank you again to our amazing supporters and to Mother Earth Greenhouse for helping make this fundraiser such a success! 💖

Our Supportive Independent Living Program (SILP) crew made the most of March and April with plenty of outings and activities! ✨

With so many sports fans in the group, it’s no surprise they’ve embraced a little friendly competition, whether that’s go-kart racing, shooting pool, cheering on curling, or enjoying a Hockey Night at Sports on Tap.

April also brought a trip to the Saskatoon Expo, where Yvonne got some new ink! 🤘

As always, weekly favorites like Coffee Group and Swimming Group also continue to be a hit. And with warmer weather on the horizon, everyone is excited to take the fun outside to patios and outdoor pools.

This month, we’re excited to celebrate Glynn for achieving her goal of traveling to Edmonton for a fun and memorable vacation! ✨

Back in January, Glynn joined fellow residents and members of our Recreation team on a flight to Edmonton for an action-packed two-night stay at the Fantasyland Hotel. She had a fun time exploring West Edmonton Mall, going out for supper and spending time with her friends and the Rec crew.

One of the biggest highlights of the trip was attending an Edmonton Oilers game! As a huge hockey fan, this was an especially exciting experience for Glynn. She even picked out a brand-new Oilers sweater to wear to the game. 💙🧡

Pride Month is just around the corner and we’re excited to share that our Community Inclusion Program (CIP) is selling Pride shirts again this year! 🏳‍🌈

Each shirt features a vibrant rainbow heart design, pictured below, along with a special rainbow Elmwood tree logo on the sleeve.

Shirts are available in Youth sizes XS to XL for $20 each and Adult sizes S to 3XL for $25 each. 👕

The shirts are proudly made by CIP’s Entrepreneur Group, and 100% of profits will be donated to Trans Sask - a province-wide non-profit supporting trans, genderqueer, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals, as well as their families, friends, and allies.

As we wrap up Disability Service Professionals (DSPs) Week, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible DSPs who make Elmwood such a vibrant and strong organization. 💖

Throughout the week, we celebrated their dedication with special surprises and giveaways across our Community Homes and Kinsmen Manor. Highlights included a “Movie and Dinner on Us” package on Monday, hourly gift card giveaways on Tuesday, and a relaxing “Staycation” package to wind things down yesterday. Mid-week, members of our Senior Leadership Team made extra sweet deliveries of donuts to the Community Homes and the Manor.

To finish the week off, our Community Home Coordinators will be delivering Elmwood totes, as a small token of appreciation. ✨

It’s been an amazing week recognizing the people who make Elmwood shine every day. Please join us in giving our DSPs another well-deserved round of applause for their hard work, compassion, and dedication, we truly couldn’t do it without them!
