Practice- Changing Update:

Don't let your patient's legs take the lead. 🏃‍♂️

We used to reach for dopamine agonists, but the data has shifted.

If you see a patient with worsening symptoms despite treatment, think augmentation. It’s an iatrogenic trap we need to avoid.

Clinic Pearl Drop. 🍷

No longer are we waiting for red flags to appear before screening for Alcohol Use Disorder. The latest update from the Canadian Medical Association Journal shifts our focus to the new low-risk thresholds from Canada's Guidance on Alcohol and Health.

If your patient drinks more than two standard drinks per week, it’s time to start the conversation.

Heads Up. When it comes to Rocky Mountain spotted fever, waiting for lab results is a rash decision. 🎯

The latest data reminds us that human cases are rare but endemic in Canada, and over half of these patients end up hospitalized.

Don't forget to look for laboratory clues like thrombocytopenia and hyponatremia to help back up your suspicion.

If you suspect it, start empiric treatment right away.

Guideline Update 🩺

Hair’s the thing: thinning scalp concerns are growing.

Female Pattern Hair Loss affects up to 50% of patients by age 70.

Remember, the diagnosis is clinical. You don't need a biopsy or fancy androgen panels for most.

Stick to the basics: minoxidil or spironolactone.

Just warn your patients that it takes a year to see the "roots" of their success! 💇‍♀️✨

📑📣 GUIDELINE ALERT

We’re not ovary-acting 🥚 Ovarian cysts are so last decade… especially since they were never really the problem anyway

A major global update just changed the name of this condition, and the reason why says a lot about how misunderstood it’s been for years.

👉 Let’s make the PMOSt of it, read more here: https://vitalfm.ca/pcos-update
