Okanagan Spellers

Okanagan Spellers Founder of Okanagan Spellers, supporting nonspeaking individuals through Spelling to Communicate. Fully certified S2C Practitioner.

Passionate about helping people build real, meaningful communication, one letter at a time. I grew up in the Okanagan Valley and always knew I wanted to help people. Over the years, I’ve worked in supported living, behaviour intervention, and as an education assistant. Now, I’m training to become a certified S2C Practitioner (expected Jan 2026), and I’m so excited to support nonspeaking individuals

in finding their voice. Outside of work, I love hiking, camping, and yoga. I’ve been married for 20+ years, have one amazing daughter, a golden retriever named June, and a wild cat named Roxy. I’m grateful to do this work in the community I call home.

There isn’t just one board.

We move from 3 boards → 26 board → keyboard over time.

Posture matters more than people think.

If the body isn’t supported, it’s a lot harder to get accurate pointing.

A lot of what we do is setting up the body so communication can actually happen.

What is S2C?

It’s a way for individuals to communicate by pointing to letters.

A lot of my clients understand more than they can show. We work on the motor side, regulation, and building up to more independent communication.
