Dolly Parton said she wanted to be remembered for her books not her looks! Only after her passing did I find out how she did so much for good for others! She had an Imagination Library which sent free books to millions of children ( including braille versions) - inspired by the fact that her father was illiterate. So many people have been saying how important these books were to them/their families.
Apparently, she also gave lots of money to disaster relief charities - we need more uplifting stories and positive role models shown!
There's so much love and kindness in the world ... hopefully we can all be a bit more "Dolly" and spread that love and kindness even further!
Millions of children started home libraries because of Dolly Parton’s commitment to early literacy.
For more than three decades, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has mailed books directly to young children around the world — creating more opportunities for reading, connection, and learning.
Today, we remember and honor Dolly for a lifetime of advocacy and for the generations of young readers her vision will continue to inspire. In her words, “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.” We couldn't agree more. 📚❤️🩹
