I used to sit down at the start of September and map out every goal I wanted to hit.

New routine, more sessions, catching up on everything summer put off, all crammed into week one, full of determination that this time would be different.

It felt exciting for about a day, then it just felt exhausting to look at, because none of it accounted for the fact I was already running on August’s leftovers, disrupted sleep, no proper downtime, a diary with no gaps in weeks.

By week two the determination was gone and so was the plan.

I don’t do that anymore. I treat September as a reset, not a relaunch, I just go back into a routine I already know I can sustain.

If you’re doing the same thing right now, trying to launch six new things in week one, this is your sign. September doesn’t need a new version of you, it needs you rested enough to actually keep going.

What’s one thing that would fill your cup this week, before the month asks for everything you’ve got? Drop it below.

Couldn’t afford Chinese takeaways growing up. Now I make a better one for half the price and cals.

409 calories, 31g protein, Including rice.

Here is what you need (serves 4):
400g Chicken light meat
160g Cooked basmati rice (per serving)
1x Large onion
100g Frozen peas and sweetcorn
100g Mayflower Chinese Style Curry Sauce Mix
300ml water
3x large garlic cloves
2x Red chilli
20g green chilli
1tsp coconut oil
1tsp chilli flakes

Method
Heat oil, soften onions, garlic and peppers in. Chicken also in and sear, add chilli flakes (optional). Whisk curry mix with water in a separate pan until sauce thickens. Pour over chicken and simmer 10 minutes. Boil rice and peas alongside.

Spring rolls and prawn crackers are optional. If they fit - enjoy every bit.
Serve and enjoy and freeze the rest.

Bank holiday weekend and I’m not out on a bender.
One glass of wine, Bruno on the sofa, girl dinner sorted 🥂.

This is what maintaining actually looks like, enjoying it without losing the whole weekend to it.

Save this if a cosy night beats a crazy one right now 🫶.
