𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐦 💡
This month, we're supporting our corporate sponsor Shoe Aid by counting our steps for 'STEPtember.'

ShoeAid’s mission to tackle UK shoe poverty reflects a value we see every day in clinical practice: helping people get safely and confidently on their feet.

Our Solo range supports this too, with unrivalled variable height functionality enabling feet-on-the-floor access for safer movement and greater independence. It's a shared commitment and one we're proud to highlight throughout STEPtember.

Watch this space for more updates across the month. 😊

Ask Kirsty what one most overlooked aspect of dignity is when caring for plus‑size patients.👩‍⚕️

Her answer comes back to hygiene care. Traditional bedside washing can be uncomfortable, time‑consuming and difficult for patients to participate in. It often involves large amounts of cold water and friction on vulnerable skin, which may already be moisture‑damaged or painful to touch.

But is there a solution? Kirsty highlights how the ECO Portable Patient Shower can support a gentler, more dignified approach - delivering warm, controlled water at the bedside and giving patients the chance to be involved in their own washing. 💧

Quick Clinical Tip of the Week 💡
This week, Medstrom’s Clinical Director Debbie shares a simple reminder: keep the “load” close to your body.

A recent poster she spotted showed how strain increases the further the load moves away from you. Whether that’s a patient during assisted movement or your head when you’re looking down at your phone, the principle stays the same.

And when patient handling is more complex, Medstrom’s lateral tilt beds help bring the load closer, supporting safer, more natural alignment for carers.

For patients with a larger morphology, temporary spaces can affect dignity, visibility and access to essential equipment - making an already difficult situation even harder for staff and patients.

Specialised equipment helps. For instance, the Medstrom VelaXL Stretcher offers an extra‑wide design, safe positioning and easy manoeuvrability in busy corridors.

Medstrom provides responsive rental support and 24/7 clinical advice to make escalation spaces safer. For urgent support, call 0345 371 1717 - we’re here to help. 📞 Alternatively, discover more about the VelaXL Stretcher here: https://www.medstrom.com/product/vela-xl-bariatric-stretcher/
