Recently, we celebrated the 30th birthday of one of our showroom team members! 🥳🎈

We made sure her day was filled with plenty of balloons, decorations, and a generous supply of sweets (which the rest of the team were more than happy to help finish off!). 🍬

Happy World Occupational Therapy Day!

We caught up with Alexis, one of our OTs at Wheelfreedom, to hear her thoughts on the importance of understanding the wheelchair user and how it shapes her approach to posture and seating.

One question she always likes to ask is:

"What do you love doing, and what's the most important thing for you to be able to do?"

For Alexis, understanding someone's interests, routines, and personal goals is just as important as understanding their clinical needs. She shared an interesting perspective on seating. A person's posture might look ideal from a clinical point of view, but if it prevents them from doing the things they enjoy, have we really achieved the right outcome?

It's something that guides her work: finding a balance between postural support and everyday function, while recognising that the person themselves brings invaluable knowledge and experience to the process.

A big thank you to Alexis and all the occupational therapists whose work helps people take part in the things that matter to them.

A lovely story we wanted to share.

At 81, this gentleman has spent much of his life restoring military vehicles and sharing his passion with fellow enthusiasts at vintage car shows. As getting around has become more difficult, he has donated much of his collection to museums. This time, one of his lorries is heading to Beamish Museum .

His family hired the Sunrise Medical Breezy Basix 2, a wheelchair with elevating leg rests. Here he is waving goodbye to one of his treasured lorries as it heads off to its new home at Beamish Museum. A moment that might have been difficult without the wheelchair.

His wife kindly shared: "So very useful thank you and the hand rims give him the freedom to move a bit rather than just be pushed and waiting for someone to take the brake off, big thank you!"

The QS7 X is built with an aerospace-grade aluminium frame, giving it both durability and a transport weight of just 6.7 kg. Its castors improves straight-line tracking, reducing fatigue and the constant need for correction when going straight. Plus the QS7 X has excellent rigidity, allowing for more efficient energy transfers and less effort when propelling.
