I’ve never really spoken publicly about the time my bleeding became so heavy that I ended up in A&E.

Not an experience I’ll ever forget.
It began on a Wednesday. I carried on working, kept changing my protection and tried to convince myself I could manage it and it was just a heavy period.

By Friday, I was still bleeding heavily. I went to a work meal but had to leave because I was struggling to manage it. When I got home, I knew something wasn’t right.

I called NHS 111 and was told to go straight to A&E.

Spending 15 hours there was certainly not a pleasant experience, but honestly, if I hadn’t gone in and received medication to stop the bleeding, I know I would have become very unwell.

And this was not the last time unexpected bleeding has caused my issues since… the peri menopause bleeding really did appear from nowhere with a vengeance when I’ve never really ever suffered in my life 🤷🏽‍♀️

I work in women’s health. I have open conversations about bleeding every day, and it doesn’t embarrass me. But when it was happening to me, I still tried to carry on for longer than I should have.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about encouraging women to talk about changes in their bodies.

Changes to bleeding can happen during perimenopause, but that doesn’t mean you should assume every change is “just hormones” or something you have to tolerate.
My experience can’t tell you what’s causing your symptoms, but after a long time of wanting to speak openly about what I’ve been through, I feel it’s important to share.

Like so many things around menopause, we don’t always talk about what we’re experiencing and I want to encourage women to feel that it’s okay to speak up, ask questions and share their experiences.

Sometimes simply knowing you’re not alone can make such a difference. 🙏🏽❤️

So please IF your bleeding changes, is affecting your life or concerns you in any way, speak to your GP. If it becomes very heavy or you feel unwell, seek urgent medical advice.

A change in your bleeding can be common during perimenopause.

One of the most useful things you can do before an appointment is write down exactly what has changed.

Not just “my periods are bad,” but when they happen, how long they last, how often you change protection, any pain or bleeding outside your usual pattern, and whether you are feeling unusually tired, dizzy, breathless or unwell.

That information helps your clinician understand the impact and decide what assessment is appropriate.

My women’s-health background means I am comfortable opening the conversation and encouraging women to seek the right help. I am not using social media to diagnose you, but to help you recognise when something has changed, understand what may be worth discussing, and feel more confident asking for support.

You know your body best. If your bleeding has changed significantly, is affecting your day-to-day life, or you are concerned about it, please speak to your GP or healthcare professional.

You don’t have to just put up with it because you’re in your 40s or 50s. ❤️

If your bleeding has changed during perimenopause, you don’t have to quietly put up with it. ❤️

Periods can become heavier, longer, more frequent, less predictable, or sometimes disappear for months before returning.

But “it’s just perimenopause” doesn’t mean you have to suffer through it.

If your bleeding is affecting your everyday life, leaving you exhausted, making you anxious about leaving the house, or simply feels different from what you’re used to, it’s worth talking to your GP or healthcare professional.

You deserve to understand what’s happening in your body and know what options are available to you.

Your symptoms are valid. Your quality of life matters. And you don’t have to just put up with it. 🤍

Save this post for when you need it, and share it with someone who might need the reminder too.

A client that now attends the gym regularly with no fear, only confidence and progression 👏🏽💪🏽

The strongest part of the story is not a number on the scales. It is the shift from feeling unsure to understanding the basics, following a plan and building confidence in strength training.

Want to feel more confident when you walk into the gym? DM CONFIDENCE to find out how I can help.

You don’t need to feel confident in the gym before you start working with me.

Building that confidence is part of the process.

We’ll begin by talking about your goals, your experience and what currently makes you feel unsure. From there, I’ll create a plan that suits your ability, lifestyle and the equipment available to you.

I won’t simply give you a list of exercises and expect you to work everything out alone.

I’ll show you how to perform each movement, explain why it’s included and help you understand what good technique should feel like. As you become stronger and more comfortable, I’ll adapt and progress your training at a pace that’s right for you.

The aim is for you to walk into the gym knowing what you’re doing, why you’re doing it and how it supports your goals.

You don’t need to know everything before you begin. You just need the right person to show you where to start.

DM me STRONG if you’d like my help building your strength and gym confidence.

If you have ever walked into a gym, looked towards the weights and immediately retreated to the treadmill, you are not alone.

It can feel intimidating when other people appear confident and you are not sure where to begin. But you are not expected to know everything before you start.

Strength training is a skill. Skills are taught, practised and built over time.

We begin at your level, with movements you understand, and progress when you are ready not when somebody else thinks you should be.

What part of the gym feels most intimidating to you? Tell me below or DM me if you’d prefer to talk privately.

Start now, and we can build habits that will

Summer motivation is lovely when it is there. But the routine that really matters is the one that still works when the mornings are dark, the evenings are cold and life gets busy.

Starting now gives us time to build the foundations before Christmas and support you through winter and into January, when so many women feel pressure to begin again.

We are not trying to be perfect. We are creating habits that can flex around meals out, celebrations, quieter weeks and the days when motivation is low.

I currently have TWO spaces for online coaching. Availability can change, so message me and I will tell you honestly whether I have the right space for you.

One of the biggest worries women have about coaching is that they will be tied into it forever.

That is not how I work.

My Kickstart gives us the first three months to get the foundations in place. If you continue afterwards, the next few months give us time to strengthen those routines, work through real life and help the habits stick.

For many women, around six months can be enough to feel far more confident carrying on independently. Some still want accountability or support with progression and that is absolutely fine too.

I want you to stay because the support is valuable, not because you have been made to believe you cannot cope without me.

Ready to start making changes with the right support by your side?

DM me KICKSTART and I’ll send you all the details about my 12-week Kickstart Programme and we can chat about whether it’s right for you.
