😫When Stress Finds a Way Out -

As a therapist, I've spent years looking at skin.

I've seen skin that glows with health and skin that feels tired, reactive, inflamed or depleted. I've listened to concerns about redness, breakouts, dryness, sensitivity, pigmentation and premature ageing.

But over time, I've noticed something else.

Very often, skin is trying to tell a story.

Not always a dramatic story. Sometimes a quiet one.

The woman who arrives exhausted after caring for elderly parents.

The shift worker surviving on interrupted sleep.

The new mother who hasn't had a full night's rest in months.

The woman navigating grief, heartbreak, perimenopause or burnout.

Many of us have experienced a time when life felt overwhelming and our skin seemed to know it before we did.

A breakout appears before a stressful event.

Redness becomes more noticeable during difficult periods.

Skin becomes sensitive when we feel emotionally depleted.

The connection is real.

Our skin is not separate from us.

It is part of us.

Modern science tells us that stress influences inflammation, hormones, sleep quality and even skin barrier function. When we are under prolonged pressure, the body prioritises survival over repair.

The result can be skin that feels less resilient than usual.

Yet I think there is something deeper worth exploring.

Perhaps skin is one of the few places where our inner world becomes visible.

Not because we have done something wrong.

Not because we need fixing.

But because we are human.

We live in a culture that often encourages us to conceal signs of struggle. We learn to keep going, keep smiling, keep achieving.

Our skin does not always cooperate with that plan.

Sometimes it asks us to slow down.

To rest.

To pay attention.

To become curious.

This is where holistic skincare differs from the pursuit of perfection.

A holistic approach does not ask only:

"What product should I use?"

It also asks:

"How am I sleeping?"

"What is causing me stress?"

"Am I nourishing myself well?"

"When did I last feel rested?"

"What does my body need right now?"

These questions may not fit neatly into a skincare routine, yet they often influence the health of our skin more than any serum ever could.

As a therapist, I believe facials, massage and skincare rituals have value far beyond appearance.

They create moments of pause.

Moments of comfort.

Moments where the nervous system can soften and the body can remember what it feels like to feel cared for.

Healthy skin is not always flawless skin.

Healthy skin changes with seasons, hormones, age and experience.

Healthy skin belongs to a living human being.

Perhaps the goal is not to fight our skin into submission.

Perhaps the goal is to listen.

To support.

To nurture.

And to remember that sometimes, when stress finds a way out, it is not a sign of failure.

It is simply our body asking for a little more kindness.

Tonight, the moon is growing fuller beside a bright star called Spica.

The light from that star began its journey long before any of our current worries existed, hundreds of years ago.

I find comfort in that.

That life is both very small and very precious.
That perhaps not everything needs solving before sleep.
That becoming happens quietly too.

Before you rest tonight:
look up if the sky is clear.

The moon is still becoming full.
And maybe we are too.

A little Golden Sun love note on one of the warmest days ☀️

Sometimes wellbeing isn’t doing more.
Sometimes it’s cool drinks, slower moments and allowing ourselves to soften.

Which part do you need today:
✨ Shine
✨ Soften
✨ Rest

(Mine might be all three.)

Love,

I wanted to share a little update from the heart.

This week I’ll be closing my room at Blush, which feels very bittersweet.

So many beautiful moments, conversations and quiet healing have happened there, and I’ll always be grateful for that time.
Mabon is standing at a gentle pause right now. I’m taking some time to listen and feel into what comes next, rather than rushing into a decision. There are a few ideas softly forming — spa rituals at home, moon and meditation circles, wellness experiences — but for now I’m allowing things to unfold naturally.
What I do know is that the essence of Mabon hasn’t changed. It’s still about care, connection, and creating spaces where you can breathe, soften and feel held.
Thank you for being here, for your support, and for allowing this in-between moment to exist. It means more than you know 🤍
