Did you know holding onto anger can make anxiety worse, it can also cause depression.

If you suppress anger it can affect your thinking and can have a physical effect on your body.

Being angry at someone else has more affect on you than it does on them. It’s like holding onto hot coals and expecting them to get burnt.

Finding positive ways to deal with negative emotions is one way of dealing with it.

🧘‍♀️ Focus on the positive things no matter how small.

✅ Change negative self talk into positive.

👭🏻 Surround yourself with positive people

✋🏻 Stay in the present, focus on the now

🙏🏻 Be grateful, write a gratitude list.

Are you holding onto anger?

Change How You Think

You can have as many other techniques as you want to help you change how you feel, but unless you use them, they’re not of much use.

You have to wire your brain to these new ways, new behaviours. It doesn’t change on its own, it’s the things you do that change your brain. If you keep doing the same thing you’re going to keep getting the same results. So to get different results, do something different.

So by changing how you walk, stand or behave into a more positive, confident way, the wiring in your brain will start to change, and before long it will become the “norm”, you will create a new habit and a new way of feeling. As you change your posture simply say either out loud or inside your head “l am enough”.

So practice, practice, practice. Choose times when you often feel at your worst, it doesn’t matter how many times a day it is, and remember to say “I am enough”.

Why Your Body Reacts Before Your Mind Understands

If you’ve experienced anxiety I’m sure you’ll have experienced the racing heart, tight chest or sudden wave of panic and thought “What’s wrong with me?”

There’s nothing wrong.

It’s your body doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Your nervous system process information incredibly quickly, and often before your conscious mind has caught up.

That’s why you can react emotionally before you fully understand what’s happening.

It isn’t a sign of anything being wrong, it’s biology.

Don’t fight your body’s responses, learn to understand them.

Once you do that, once you understand, it becomes far less frightening.

And if you still feel like you need help then get in touch.

What’s The Difference Between Stress, Anxiety And Trauma?

The words stress, anxiety and trauma are sometimes mistaken as the same thing. But they’re not.

Stress is your response to pressure.

Anxiety is fear or worry about what might happen.

Trauma is what can happen when an overwhelming experience or event becomes stored in the nervous system.

If you imagine that stress is the alarm, anxiety is the alarm continuing to ring and trauma is the alarm system becoming overly sensitive long after the danger has passed.

Understanding the difference between them matters.

Because if you treat trauma like ordinary stress you might never address the real issue.

Knowledge creates choices and choices creates change.

If you want to know how Silent Counselling and Hypnotherapy can help you deal with any of these then book a free consultation via my website and let’s have a chat.

Mindset Shift Idea

What is it you’re trying to control?

That’s an interesting question isn’t it? That’s because most of us don’t realise that we’re actually doing it.

We try to control what other people think of us. We try to control how situations might turn out. We can try to control what might happen tomorrow, next week or even next month.

But the problem with that is the more we try to control things that are outside our influence the more drained we can feel.

So today just take a breath and ask yourself…

What am I trying to control that is draining me? What would letting go look like?

Now that doesn’t mean that you’re giving up or that you’re not caring, it’s being able to recognise the difference between what’s there to manage and what isn’t.

If someone cuts in front of you when you’re driving, and you get pee’d off, you cant control what happened but you can control your choice of how you feel and how you respond to it.

You can’t control everything and everyone around you.

Sometimes the thing that's keeping us stuck is all the time and energy we're spending worrying about things we can't actually control. When we let go of needing everything to work out a certain way it can leave us feeling lighter.

This week see if there’s one thing you can release. Maybe it’s one worry, one expectation or one outcome.

And when you do, notice how much lighter you feel when you stop trying to hold it all together.

What’s your inner peace personality?

Calm looks different for everyone and we all have different ways of doing self care.

Here’s a little quiz to see what your inner peace personality looks like.

Answer the questions with A, B, C or D and see which one feels most like you.

1. Your ideal calm moment is:
A) A long, quiet walk in nature
B) Journaling with a candle and a cup of tea
C) Dancing it out in the kitchen to your favourite playlist
D) Lying in bed, headphones in, guided meditation on

2. When life gets too much, you usually:
A) Retreat – you need space to breathe
B) Overthink everything (twice)
C) Keep busy – distraction is your go-to
D) Feel it all at once and try to numb out

3. Your biggest inner peace blocker is:
A) People pleasing
B) Overthinking
C) Old emotional baggage
D) Never switching off

4. Your dream self-care day looks like:
A) Spa or forest retreat vibes
B) Writing, reflecting, and releasing
C) Breathwork or movement to shift stuck energy
D) Deep rest, no phone, no guilt

✨ Mostly A’s – The Grounded Goddess
You recharge through stillness and solitude. Nature is your healer. You thrive when your feet are on the earth and your boundaries are strong.

✨ Mostly B’s – The Inner Explorer
You’re all about the deep stuff. You want to understand yourself, heal the past, and feel emotionally free. Journals, affirmations, and gentle release are your thing.

✨ Mostly C’s – The Energy Shifter
You feel things BIG. Movement, expression, and powerful shifts are how you find peace. You don’t sit still – you move the energy.

✨ Mostly D’s – The Soft Seeker
You crave calm but rarely give yourself permission to fully rest. When you do? Magic happens. Your peace comes from softness, surrender, and switching off.

I’d love to know your results so drop them in the comments. If you think you’re ALL of them you’re not alone.

There is no right way to heal, only your way.

Signs Your Nervous System Is Stuck In Survival Mode

Most people think they’re “just stressed” but what if your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode for years?

Here are 7 signs it’s stuck.

You constantly feel on edge even when nothing is wrong.

You struggle to relax, even on holiday.

You overthink conversations long after they’ve happened.

You feel exhausted but can’t switch off.

You find yourself people pleasing to avoid conflict.

Small problems feel much bigger than they should.

Rest makes you feel guilty.

Survival isn’t a mindset, it’s a natural biological response designed to protect you.

However the problem comes when your nervous system forgets how to switch off.

Teaching your mind and body that you’re safe again is a good way to start healing.

I know that I resonated with a lot of these, which of these signs resonates with you most?

Why You Can’t Think Your Way Out Of Anxiety

If overthinking could solve anxiety, you’d be cured by now.

Many people try to think their way out of anxiety.

They analyse.
They research.
They replay conversations.
They prepare for every possible outcome.

Yet the anxiety remains.

Why?

Because anxiety isn’t simply a thinking problem.

It’s often a nervous system problem.

When your body perceives danger, logical thinking takes a back seat.

Your brain’s job becomes about protection, not peace.

That’s why understanding anxiety is important. But understanding it alone isn’t enough.

The real change happens when both the mind and body learn to have a new response.

Have you ever noticed that the more you analyse anxiety, the worse it can sometimes feel?

What you focus on you get more off.
