☠️ One of these is deadly poisonous (foxglove)

🀧 One will soothe a hacking cough (mullein)

🦴 One will speed healing of broken bones (comfrey)

πŸ«– So which leaf are you putting in your teapot? Are you sure???

If you love foraging herbs it's so important to learn to do it safely and there's no substitute for being out there with the plants with guidance from an actual, trained human. Some AI plant apps are confidently identifying hemlock water dropwort as parsley 😱 to name just one scary example!

Come and get hands on this Friday evening 29th May 6-8pm with a gentle wander round the edge of town guided by our resident final hear Herbal Medicine student Kerri. Find the herbs in their habitats, touch and identify them, taste teas (of the non-deadly ones πŸ˜… ) and build your confidence to work with these incredible plants at home.

Email Kerri on [email protected] to book.

To book please email Kerri: [email protected] πŸ€—

πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯ You've been asking for herb walks since spring sprang -- well I'm delighted to tell you we now have TWO in the pipeline! Kerri (our resident final year herbal medicine student) is in much demand these days, doing herb walks for the National Trust and the Anne Lister Festival - well happily Kerri will also be leading two walks for us in May and June πŸ€—

πŸŒ… Friday 29th May 6 - 8pm - making the most of the long summer evenings.

β˜€οΈ Saturday 20th June 11am - 1pm - a plant walk on Midsummer's Day!

Each walk will be around the outskirts of Hebden Bridge, taking two hours for a very gently paced stroll of under a mile, stopping every few steps to meet around 30 medicinal plants and trees, learning about their traditional and modern uses and tasting some herbal preparations. Bring your notebook and a mug!

HAYFEVER β˜€οΈ I know spring has only justtt sprung, but the trick to treating hayfever herbally is to *start early*, ideally 6 weeks before you usually get symptoms.

Cheap & cheerful option: grab a pack of my Allerg-ease tea from me or Valley Organics Workers' Co-op and sup away on it most days before & during your personal hayfever season.

Deep dive option: book in for a consultation to discuss the underlying factors feeding in to your allergies and get bespoke herbs prescribed for your specific situation.

Plantain is a key herb in my Allerg-ease tea and here's a pretty specimen up at Dodnaze πŸ’š

Did you know every part of the Rose plant is medicinal - the petals, hips, leaves, bark and root? And did you know that Rose has traditional and modern uses in every system of the body, from digestion to skin, from heart to kidneys? Real herbalism goes far beyond "x herb for x condition" - because even everyday herbs like Rose and Lavender contain thousands of chemical constituents which have multiple actions on the human body - learning to work with this complexity is what herbal medicine's all about πŸ•Έ

If this piques your interest do join us this Friday evening, 7-8.30pm for a cosy workshop exploring ways to work with Rose and Lavender to support your health and take care of those around you. Full price is Β£25 but do get in touch if you need a discounted place 😊 Sign up at [email protected]

These are MEDICINAL plants, acting on our nervous systems, digestion, immunity, inflammation, injuries... There's so much to learn and by deep diving on these two you'll leave with skills to help you explore other herbs in your own time πŸ“
