I rebuilt my body at 40 so 47 could look and feel like this.

Not through more cardio.
Not through eating less.
Not through trying harder.

I focused on 3 things:

To the 40 year old version of me who thought she’d never feel like herself again…

You didn’t give up.

You stopped fighting your body and finally learned how to work with it.

I remember feeling exhausted despite sleeping.

Bloated after meals.

Puffy, inflamed and uncomfortable in my own skin.

Gaining weight around my middle despite doing all the “right” things.

Eating healthy.
Exercising.
Taking supplements.

Trying harder.

The doctors kept saying I was fine.

But I knew I wasn’t.

I didn’t feel like me anymore.

What I know now is this:

My body wasn’t broken.

It was overwhelmed.

The harder I pushed, the worse things became.

I genuinely didn’t realise how inflamed I was.

I thought I’d just gained weight and my body had stopped responding.

Looking back now, I can laugh because honestly… I did resemble the Michelin Man 😢

But at the time?

I felt awful.

Exhausted.

Bloated.

Constipated.

Puffy.

Brain foggy.

Waking up tired every day.

No matter how “healthy” I ate or how much I exercised, nothing changed.

I even remember eating only cooked vegetables because I was so desperate to stop the bloating.

It didn’t work.

Because my body didn’t need more restriction.

It needed support.

Within a couple of weeks of supporting the systems responsible for digestion, detoxification, hormones and energy, everything started shifting.

The bloating eased.

My energy came back.

The puffiness and weight dropped .

10 things I changed at 40 that I wish I knew at 30:

1. I stopped trying to do more and eat less. What worked in my 30’s did not work in my 40’s.

2. I started training around my cycle instead of against it. Knowing when to push and when to pull back changed everything.

3. I stopped focusing only on calories and started supporting my hormones, gut, nervous system and blood sugar.

4. I took my stress levels seriously. Living in survival mode was making me inflamed, exhausted and disconnected from myself.

5. I started taking my sleep and circadian rhythm seriously. Earlier nights, morning light and less chaos changed everything.

6. I changed my lifestyle to work with my genetics instead of against them. Genes may load the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger.

7. I stopped ignoring symptoms because someone told me my blood work was “normal.”

8. I stopped using alcohol, overworking and busyness to escape how I actually felt.

9. I stopped caring so much about what other people thought and started allowing myself to just be me.

10. I stopped believing willpower was the answer when my biology was struggling. No amount of discipline can outwork a dysregulated nervous system, inflamed gut, poor sleep, hormone imbalances or a body stuck in survival mode.

Your body changes in your 40’s. That doesn’t mean it’s broken. It means it needs something different from you now.
