Like genuinely

Men: book holiday, throw s**t in a bag, go, enjoy themselves

Women:
Book holiday
Immediate panic
Start restricting 6 weeks out
Buy new outfits (then hate them all)
Stress about photos the entire time
Feel guilty for eating bread
Promise to “be good” when they get back

And then we wonder why we’re exhausted…

Before you come for me - YES you’re ALLOWED to have aesthetic goals

I have them, most of my clients do too

But the panic-restrict-binge cycle before every trip?

That’s not working…

What actually works:

- Eating protein at most meals
- Moving your body consistently
- Not moralizing your food
- Being consistent (not perfect) the other 50 weeks

Do that and when holiday comes you just... go

No 6-week £90 shred
No panic mindset
No guilt about the bread!! (nothing makes me more sad)

Just living your life

The boring basics aren’t sexy

…but neither is restricting for 6 weeks then stressing your entire holiday

Welcome to Messy Health - Episode 2: Knackered-After-Work Tortillas xx

The secret? Most nights I am WINGING it (even as a nutritionist)

I had a busy week and got home tireddd, but whipped these up in approx. 8 minutes flat.

What went in:
* 3 mini corn tortillas (could use whatever! Love a wholewheat vibe for extra fibre / could do on toast in air fryer?!)
* 1 chicken sausage (mashed onto each tortilla)
* Handful of rocket
* Red pepper (chopped) - ALL your daily vit c /11
* cottage cheese (gifted but genuinely SO obsessed)
* Dollop of pesto on each (could use whatever sauce you have- I did stray from sciracha which is unheard of for me)

How I made it:
Mashed the sausage onto the tortillas, fried them in a pan, took them out, loaded them up. Done!

Time: 8 minutes / Protein: High/ Fibre: Loads/ Nutrients: ideas / Effort: Minimal / Taste: So good

I promise you that eating well DOESNT need to be complicated or super ig worthy for it to do good for you!!

Swap the sausage for any protein, the rocket for spinach, the pesto for hummus. Make it your own (send me pics though pls)

I have lost count of how many women have come to me eating 1,200 calories

They started it to lose weightBut now they’re just desperate to feel NORMAL again

They want:
- Energy to get through the day
- To stop thinking about food 24/7
- To trust themselves around chocolate
- To not overeat every night
- To actually enjoy a meal out
- To feel like a functioning girly

And someone told them 1,200 calories was the answer
It is NOT

Our body can’t FUNCTION on 1,200 calories
Your brain alone needs around 130g of carbs daily just to work!!

When we increase their food?
Everything changes 🤝
Not just their weight (though that often sorts itself out)
Their LIFE changes
They have energy
They can think clearly
They stop obsessing over food
They trust themselves
They feel GOOD!!!

(All the things that actually matter imo)

M had been on a diet since she was nine years old. her mum took her to weight watchers. nine years old, and already being told her body needed fixing :(

forty years later she came to me exhausted. not just physically - but mentally too. the constant starting over, the guilt, the feeling that everyone else could do this except her.

and she wasnt even sure she wanted to work with me - i could see the lack of trust (understandably!!)

BUT - she couldn’t have been more wrong!!

we didn’t overhaul everything at once. we went slowlyyyy, built small habits around her real busy life, had weeks where it felt hard and instead of quitting we just figured out why.

there was no meal plan she had to fight her way through. instead just - does this actually work for you?

(so many of us force routines, diets, habits that arent meant for us - what works for katie no kids and uni student does NOT apply for a mum with a big corporate job!!)

slide 10 is a message she sent me 9 months after we’d finished working together 🥹

and the line that made me BEAM for her was —> ”i like myself a bit more too.”

after forty years of being told her body was a problem to be solved - she likes herself a bit more.
