This co-funded studentship, supported by the Epilepsy Research Institute and Sam's Superheroes Foundation brings together work led by Dr Marios Kaliakatsos at UCL. It focuses on NORSE, a rare and severe epilepsy syndrome. An international registry is being built to better understand long-term outcomes and improve personalised care.

📢Agenda announced!
We are delighted to share the full agenda for our inaugural Research Summit, taking place on 16 July 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians in London. This one-day event will focus on one key question: “So what?”, moving the conversation beyond discovery into real-world impact.

Throughout the day, the Summit will showcase innovative research that is influencing practice and policy — while bringing the epilepsy research community together to discuss how research can be designed, delivered and translated so that it delivers meaningful improvements in the lives of people affected by epilepsy.

We’re delighted to announce that our international consensus paper on SUDEP research priorities, developed in collaboration with CURE Epilepsy, PAME: Partners Against Mortality in Epilepsy, SUDEP Action: Making every epilepsy death count, clinicians, researchers, charities, and people with lived experience, has been published in peer-reviewed medical journal Epilepsy Currents.

The paper reflects the power of coordinated, cross-sector collaboration, creating a space for shared priorities to emerge across clinical, preclinical, and awareness domains. It establishes a unified research agenda focused on preventing SUDEP – a crucial step toward accelerating progress and reducing risk worldwide.

We are incredibly grateful to all co-authors and partners who contributed to this important work.
