πŸ”¬ Every breakthrough starts with research.

The treatments of tomorrow begin with the research we support today. Every donation, fundraising challenge and act of generosity helps bring researchers one step closer to improving outcomes for people living with Leiomyosarcoma.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Together, we're funding hope, driving innovation and working towards a future where Leiomyosarcoma has better treatment options - and ultimately, a cure.

Research is not quick. Especially in rare cancers like Leiomyosarcoma.

Because LMS affects fewer people, research funding, clinical trials and treatment development have historically been much more limited than for more common cancers.

That can feel incredibly frustrating for patients and families living with the reality of LMS today.

But progress does happen. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Every new research project, every collaboration and every shared piece of knowledge helps move understanding forward.

At Leiomyosarcoma Research UK, one of our core aims is to stimulate and support research into Leiomyosarcoma so future patients have access to better treatment options, improved pathways and more hope.

Even as a young charity, we have already begun bringing together sarcoma professionals and supporting early research projects.

Real progress often starts quietly, with people deciding things must improve and working together to make it happen.

Research matters because people matter.

Leiomyosarcoma is not just β€œanother cancer”.

It is a rare and complex disease that can behave very differently depending on where it develops in the body and how it responds to treatment.

That is why dedicated Leiomyosarcoma research matters so much.

Patients affected by LMS deserve research focused specifically on:
πŸ’œ Better treatment options
πŸ’œ Improved understanding of the disease
πŸ’œ Earlier diagnosis
πŸ’œ Better patient pathways
πŸ’œ Improved quality of life and outcomes

For too long, many rare cancers have received less attention simply because fewer people are affected.

At Leiomyosarcoma Research UK, we believe rare should never mean forgotten.

By supporting LMS-focused research and collaboration, we hope to help create better possibilities for future patients and families.

πŸ’œ Every breakthrough starts with awareness, determination and research.

Fibroids are often a suggestion given by medical teams but it is important to question that and ask for further testing. Ask the question - could it be a sarcoma?

Here's an article about how Leiomyosarcoma is often mistaken for fibroids πŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Is it just a fibroid? Fibroids are common, and most are benign. But a small number turn out to be leiomyosarcoma β€” a cancerous growth that can look the same on imaging. There's no reliable way to tell before surgery. Dr. Priscilla Merriam, medical oncologist and clinical director of the Sarcoma Ce...

🧬 Genomic testing is making headlines... but what does it actually mean for people living with Leiomyosarcoma?

With the NHS expanding access to genomic testing, many people are wondering whether it could change the future of cancer treatment. While it's not yet routine for everyone with LMS, advances in personalised medicine are creating exciting possibilities for the future.

We've broken down what genomic testing is, how it works and why it matters to the LMS community.
