🧠 Brain injured people are allowed to be upset about being brain injured.

Some days we’re positive. Some days we’re determined. Some days we celebrate every tiny bit of progress.

And some days… we’re just fed up.

Fed up with the fatigue.
Fed up with our bodies not doing what we ask.
Fed up with appointments, exercises, pain and limitations.
Fed up with having to work so hard at things we once did without thinking.

And that’s okay. 💙

Recovery doesn’t mean being positive every single day. Sometimes we need to acknowledge that having a brain injury is bloody hard.

Have the bad day. Feel what you need to feel. Then, when you’re ready, we go again. 💪🧠

At RE:MOVE Neuro Recovery Hub, you don’t have to pretend you’re okay. You’re amongst people who get it.

🙌💙 500 STRONG! 💙🙌

Only a few days ago we celebrated reaching 400 followers… and now we’ve hit 500!

That’s AMAZING — but it’s also incredibly humbling.

Because behind that number are stroke survivors, carers and families whose lives have been changed by stroke.

We love watching our community grow, but it also reminds us just how many people are navigating life after stroke and looking for somewhere they feel understood.

500 followers. 500 reasons to keep going. 💪🧠

Together we RE:BUILD. RE:TRAIN. RE:COVER.

💙 500 STRONG — and nobody walks this road alone.

💙 STROKE DOESN’T JUST CHANGE ONE LIFE.

In an instant, a partner, husband, wife, parent, child or friend can become a carer.

No training.
No warning.
No pay.

Unpaid. Often unseen. But NEVER unimportant.

They become the extra pair of hands. The driver. The appointment keeper. The medication reminder. The motivator. The person picking up the pieces on the hardest days.

Yet while everyone asks:

“How is the stroke survivor doing?”

We sometimes forget to ask:

“How is their carer doing?”

Because they are living with the impact of stroke too.

💙 To every unpaid carer standing beside a stroke survivor:

We see you.
We appreciate you.
And you are NEVER unimportant.

📣 LOOK WHAT ARRIVED TODAY!!! 💙🩵

Our RE:MOVE Neuro Recovery Hub flyers are here! 🙌 And seeing them printed and ready to go makes everything feel that little bit more real.

Very soon, these will start making their way across Milton Keynes, so keep your eyes peeled! 👀

You may spot them in GP surgeries, local supermarkets including Tesco and Asda, community spaces and other local shops and organisations kind enough to display them for us.

We’ve included QR codes taking you directly to both our page and our website. 📱
Please bear with us — we’re still putting the finishing touches to the website, but it won’t be long!

💙 Our peer-to-peer stroke rehabilitation sessions will officially begin in October.

Created by stroke survivors, for stroke survivors, RE:MOVE is about so much more than rehabilitation. It’s about connection, confidence, reducing isolation and having people around you who genuinely understand what this journey can feel like.

So, if you’re in Milton Keynes, keep your eyes peeled for one of these flyers — and please feel free to take a photo, scan the QR code or share our details with someone who might benefit.

And if you’re a local business, GP surgery or community organisation and would be happy to display some for us, we’d love to hear from you. 🙏

One step. One day. One victory at a time. 💙

Getting ready for bed isn’t as simple as just putting on your pyjamas anymore… 💤

These days, bedtime has its own little routine.

🦶 Resting foot splint on.
✋ Resting hand splint on.
🛏️ Knee spacer pillow ready to hand for when I finally get comfortable.

Then comes the biggest challenge of all… hoping for a decent night’s sleep.

Because one of the things people don’t necessarily see about life after stroke is how disrupted sleep can become.

More often than not, even if I don’t actually get out of bed, I find myself waking up throughout the night for absolutely no obvious reason. Sometimes I settle again quickly; other times my brain seems to decide that sleep is finished for the night!

And of course, poor sleep and neuro fatigue aren’t exactly the best combination when your brain and body are already working harder every single day.

It’s another one of those little realities of stroke recovery that you probably wouldn’t think about unless you were living it.

So tonight the splints are going on, the pillow is ready, and I’m crossing everything that can still comfortably be crossed for a decent night’s sleep! 😂🤞💤

Stroke recovery really is a 24-hour job. 💙🧠

📣 AN EXCITING STEP FOR RE:MOVE! 💙🩵

We’ve just submitted our application to Milton Keynes City Council to become a recognised provider through the Social Prescribing scheme. 🙌

But what could social prescribing actually mean for YOU as an attendee? 🧠💪

Social prescribing is about connecting people with community-based activities and support that can improve their health and wellbeing alongside traditional medical care.

For our stroke and acquired brain injury community, this could mean that GP practices and social prescribing professionals across Milton Keynes could signpost or refer people to RE:MOVE Neuro Recovery Hub as a local source of ongoing support.

And that’s important because recovery doesn’t simply end when you leave hospital or when formal rehabilitation finishes.

At RE:MOVE, our focus isn’t only on physical recovery. It’s also about:

💙 Reducing loneliness and isolation
🩵 Rebuilding confidence after stroke or brain injury
💙 Encouraging continued movement and activity
🩵 Meeting people who genuinely understand what you’re going through
💙 Supporting emotional wellbeing and positive mental health
🩵 Creating friendships and a sense of belonging
💙 Giving carers an opportunity for a little respite while attendees take part

For attendees, becoming part of the social prescribing pathway could also make it easier to discover and access RE:MOVE through the health and community professionals already supporting you, rather than having to find services like ours entirely by yourself.

Once our registration is confirmed, we’ll be contacting GP practices across the Milton Keynes area to introduce RE:MOVE, explain exactly what we offer and make them aware of the support available to local stroke and ABI survivors.

This is another important step towards what Tracy and I set out to achieve from the beginning:

Turning our own lived experience of stroke into something that helps the wider stroke and brain injury community. 💙

So… WATCH THIS SPACE! 👀

This could open another door for people across Milton Keynes who need somewhere to continue rebuilding, reconnecting and moving forward after stroke or acquired brain injury.

🧠 RE:MOVE Neuro Recovery Hub
Peer support. Continued recovery. Community.
