The Suportx team had the pleasure of attending the OOOPS Stoma Open Day on 8th June, 2026! 🧡

Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the strength, resilience, and support that exists within the stoma community. 💪

It was fantastic to meet people living with a stoma, their families and friends, stoma care professionals, and fellow exhibitors — all brought together by a shared goal: helping people live well and confidently after surgery.

Whether visitors stopped by to learn more about support garments, ask questions, share experiences, or simply have a chat, we loved every conversation. ☺️

A huge thank you to OOOPS (Ileostomy, Urostomy & Colostomy Patient Support) for organising such a welcoming and valuable event, and to everyone who took the time to visit us throughout the day.

We look forward to seeing you again soon! 🧡

Summer with a stoma looks a little different! ☀️

Hot weather can bring extra challenges for ostomates — from dehydration and sweating to skin irritation, pouch adhesion, clothing comfort, and managing output in the heat.

But with the right preparation, support, and small adjustments, summer can still be enjoyed confidently. 🧡

A big reminder as temperatures rise:
Dehydration with a stoma can become serious quickly, especially for people with high output. Electrolytes, fluids, rest, and recognising early signs matter more than many people realise.

At Suportx, we’re always proud to support the ostomy community — helping people feel more comfortable, secure, and confident in everyday life.

What’s one summer stoma tip you swear by? ☀️⬇️

World IBD Day 💜

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) affects more than 500,000 people in the UK, yet many people still don’t realise how life-altering these conditions can be.

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis impact far more than digestion. They can affect mental health, work, relationships, confidence, energy levels, and everyday routines — often invisibly.

For some people, surgery and stoma care also become part of the journey. During recovery and everyday life afterwards, the right support — including specialist nursing care, community support, and properly fitted support garments — can make a real difference to comfort, confidence, and quality of life. ✨

Today is about recognising the reality of living with IBD, supporting better understanding, and advocating for compassionate, specialist care throughout every stage of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and long-term management. 💜

📌 We also want to recognise the incredible work charities and support organisations do every day for the IBD and ostomy community, including:
• Crohn's & Colitis UK
• Colostomy UK
• Bowel Research UK
• Guts UK Charity
• IA - Ileostomy & Internal Pouch Association

Last weekend, Suportx had the pleasure of attending the Birmingham IA Information Day alongside so many fantastic organisations and exhibitors within the ostomy community. 🧡

It was wonderful to meet attendees, share information about our support garments, and speak to people about their individual needs and experiences.

Events like these are such an important reminder of how valuable community, conversation, and shared support can be. ✨

A huge thank you to Birmingham IA for having us — and to everyone who stopped by our table to chat with us throughout the day. 💜

International Nurses Day 2026 🧡

International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth — a reminder of how far nursing has come, and how essential it remains today.

📊 There are 793,694 registered nurses in the UK — each one playing a vital role in patient care, recovery, and support every single day.

From hospital wards to community care, from mental health to specialist roles like stoma and tissue viability nursing, nurses are often at the centre of some of life’s most important and vulnerable moments.

But nursing is not only clinical.

It’s emotional work too — carrying patient experiences, supporting people through uncertainty, and still showing up with care and compassion even when outcomes are difficult.

Today is about recognising all of it. ✨

To every nurse: thank you for the skill, strength, and humanity you bring to care. 💜

If you’ve had a nurse who made a difference in your life, share your experience in the comments. 💭

Mental health is not separate from physical health — and it never has been.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re looking at the numbers behind mental health in England, and what they tell us about how many people are really affected every day.

📊 1 in 4 adults experience a mental health problem each year
📊 Young adult mental health conditions have nearly doubled since 2000
📊 Over 2.2 million people were in contact with NHS mental health services in just one month (Jan 2026)

Behind every statistic is a person — someone managing work, family, recovery, identity, and daily life while trying to stay well.

For many people living with chronic illness, surgery recovery, or long-term conditions, mental health is part of the journey too. It doesn’t exist in isolation.

That’s why awareness matters — but action matters more. ✨

📌 Good resources if you or someone you know needs support:

Mental Health Foundation
Focused on preventing poor mental health and building and protecting good mental health.

Mind
Working across England and Wales through national campaigns, local Minds, and community support services to fight stigma and improve care.

Rethink Mental Illness
Supporting people severely affected by mental illness, while driving change in health and social care and tackling stigma.

NHS-recommended support services for young people include:
Childline, The Mix, PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de, Samaritans, and Shout — offering confidential listening, crisis support, and peer connection.

Awareness is important.
But support, conversation, and action change lives. 🧡

Support doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.
Sometimes it’s a conversation, a moment of understanding, or someone simply being there when you need it most. ✨

Living with a stoma, hernia, or navigating life after surgery can come with challenges — but the right support, in all its forms, can make a real difference to comfort, confidence, and everyday life.

💜 Because support isn’t just what you wear — it’s what surrounds you.

Does an ostomy or hernia mean the end of your active life? 💜

The answer — shown time and time again by real people — is no.

From Olympic athletes and professional sports players to everyday individuals rebuilding confidence after surgery, staying active looks different for everyone… but it’s still possible.

Take a look at some inspiring stories of people living with an ostomy or hernia who continue to move, train, compete, and live life on their own terms — including appearances at events like the Olympics, international competitions, world championships, and even the London Marathon.

Because post-surgery life isn’t about limits — it’s about adaptation, confidence, and finding what support works for your body.

At Suportx, we’re here to support that journey with ostomy support belts, hernia support garments, and post-operative support solutions designed to help you feel more secure in movement and everyday life. 🧡

💜 Whether it’s sport, recovery, or daily routines — progress happens bit by bit, day by day.

Are you wearing support… or just wearing something tight? 👀

Not all support garments work the way they should — and when they don’t, it can affect comfort, movement, and confidence throughout your day.

A good support garment should:
✅ Provide reliable support without restricting movement
✅ Stay in place during daily activity
✅ Feel comfortable enough for longer wear
✅ Adapt to your routine — not interrupt it
✅ Help you feel confident and secure

Whether you're managing a hernia, recovering after surgery, or staying active, the right support garment can make a real difference to everyday comfort and confidence. 🧡

If you're unsure whether your current support is doing what it should, it might be time to review your options.
