Recovery tips to support your training 👇

If you’re training regularly, what you do between sessions matters just as much as the sessions themselves.

To keep your body moving well and reduce tightness, focus on the basics:

🧘‍♂️ Stay consistent with stretching or mobility work
🌀 Use foam rolling to target tight areas
🥗 Fuel your body properly with good nutrition
😴 Prioritise rest so your muscles can actually recover

These habits help you perform better, recover quicker, and avoid that constant tight, heavy feeling.

But they’re not a replacement for treatment.

Think of this as support alongside your regular massages — not instead of them.

"There’s a reason I don’t go to anyone else…” ⭐

Summer has been coming to me for sports massage for a long time, and this is exactly what it’s about.

It’s not just one session. It’s understanding someone’s body over time, knowing what works for them, and helping them stay mobile and performing at their best.

Working with athletes, especially at a competitive level, means dealing with ongoing demands on the body. The goal is always to keep things moving well, manage any issues early, and support performance long term.

Really appreciate the trust and the kind words 🙌

What I enjoy most about this job is the simple stuff — seeing someone come in feeling tight, uncomfortable or just not quite right, and then leave moving better and feeling more like themselves again 💛

Every client is different, so I always take the time to listen, figure out what’s going on, and treat what actually needs attention rather than just going through the motions.

There’s nothing better than knowing someone’s day (or even week) is going to feel a bit easier after a session. That’s what makes it all worth it for me. 💪

If your body’s been feeling a bit off lately, it might be worth getting it looked at, book now: https://widget.treatwell.co.uk/place/safe-hands-massage/

Why massage is the missing piece of recovery 🧩👇

Most people focus on training hard and “doing recovery right” — stretching, foam rolling, rest days, good nutrition…

But still don’t feel like their body is keeping up with everything they’re putting it through.

That’s because recovery isn’t just about doing more, it’s about actually improving how your body functions between sessions.

Massage helps bridge that gap by improving tissue quality, reducing built-up fatigue in the muscles, and helping your body feel more balanced and efficient again. It’s not just for when something feels wrong, it’s for keeping your body working well in the first place ❤️‍🩹

If your recovery feels like it’s missing something, massage might be the piece you’ve overlooked. I can help, book now ↖️🧩

First session and already planning to come back ⭐

Fiona came in ahead of a 10km race, wanting to focus on specific areas without going too heavy on pressure.

That’s exactly how it should be. Every session is adapted to what you need on the day, whether that’s preparing for an event, easing off tightness, or just making sure your body feels right going into it.

No one-size-fits-all approach, just listening, adjusting, and working in a way that suits you.

Really appreciate the kind words and glad it helped going into race prep 🙌

Why am I sore after a sports massage? 🤲👇

It’s a really common question, especially after a deeper treatment.

Sports massage works by getting into tight, overworked areas of muscle that have built up tension over time. When these areas are treated, your body responds in a few natural ways:

🟡 Deep muscle work helps target and release built-up tension
🟡 Increased circulation brings more blood flow to the area, which can create temporary sensitivity
🟡 Small, controlled stress is placed on the muscle fibres (micro-trauma) as deeper layers are worked
🟡 Your nervous system adapts and your body begins to downregulate tension and recalibrate how the area feels and moves

All of this is a normal response and part of your body adapting after treatment.

It usually settles within a short time, leaving you moving more freely and feeling the benefits of the work.

If you’ve had a session and are wondering why you feel a bit sore afterwards, this is exactly why ⬆️
