Our Clinical Specialist Orthotist, Lynsey McCallum recently represented DM Orthotics at the ACPIN International Conference 2026. The event focused on adult neurotherapy and devices or treatments that can aid with recovery and long-term condition management.

At our tabletop, we received a lot of interest in our DMO Essential Single Shoulder Orthosis, as well as a keen interest from healthcare professionals regarding our free online training, which you can find on our website at https://www.dmorthotics.com/training/

ACPIN 2026 also allowed us to network with many different people and businesses, as well as institutions such as the University of Essex and even the chance to catch up with familiar faces, like Julie Young, Senior Orthotist at Proactive Prosthetic and Orthotic Care.

We’d like to thank the ACPIN team for all their support and putting on a wonderful event, we had a great time attending. For more information about us and what we can do for you, please visit our website at www.dmorthotics.com

May is EDS and HSD Awareness Month. Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS) and Hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are umbrella terms that covers a variety of connective tissue disorders, each causing a range of symptoms, from hypermobility to skin fragility and joint instability. Other problems such as fatigue, headaches, GI problems, and autonomic dysfunction are often seen as part of HSD.

For nearly 20 years, we have been working with patients who live with EDS - and one such patient is Charlotte. Using a combination of Custom socks, gloves, leggings and a vest, Charlotte was excited to share her story about how our DMOs (Dynamic Movement Orthoses) helped her manage her condition.

To watch Charlotte’s story in full or see how we’ve helped other customers with EDS, visit our webpage: https://www.dmorthotics.com/customer-stories/charlottes-story/

Our Managing Director and Advanced Clinical Specialist Orthotist, Martin Matthews, attended SOSORT 2026 (Turin, Italy). Spending time with CEO Pedro Tagliafierro and colleague, Matteo Riva from our Italian Distributor, Biomedica, and seeing familiar faces like Georgia and Georgina from Scoliosis SOS Clinic, allowed us to reinforce our relationships with various professionals and businesses around the world.

SOSORT introduced us to many new clinicians and researchers, including Professor Raymond Tong (University of Hong Kong) and Professor Joanne Yip (Hong Kong Polytechnic University), who shared interesting ideas. We also provided live demonstrations and interesting discussions about our products and their uses.

This year there were 10 Keynote speakers, 85 oral presentations and 62 poster displays at SOSORT in Turino which provided a huge opportunity for learning new practice within the field of Scoliosis management. Martin was able to display his poster at the conference.

We would like to thank SOSORT for having us this year. It’s always a beneficial and insightful event for us, and we look forward to attending the next one!

This Month is Stroke Awareness Month.

We would like to help spread awareness by talking about one of our patients, Ian.

Ian approached us hoping to find a solution to help him regain stability with the goal of returning to work, following a left-sided brain haemorrhage that led to a stroke.

“After my stroke I wasn’t sure if I would be able to work again but my DMO glove helped me to make that step and return to work whilst managing the physical effects of my condition” – Ian

With the help of our clinical team, Ian was prescribed a DMO Custom Shoulder Orthoses, Glove and Sock. The orthoses worked to aid joint stability, improve proprioceptive feedback and to provide postural support in the places he needed it most.

Since getting his Dynamic Movement Orthoses, Ian has been able to go back to work, and we’re incredibly proud to have been a part of his recovery journey.

We have a variety of orthoses that can help manage the symptoms of a Stroke, which can be found on our website here: https://www.dmorthotics.com/knowledge-hub/conditions/stroke-2/

Caroline Jackson, our Clinical Specialist Orthotist, took on the at the weekend in support of the MS Society UK. After beginning her training back in January, she dedicated nearly every weekend to preparing for the challenge — and on Sunday, she successfully completed the full 26.2‑mile course.

“I absolutely LOVED the crowd support! The route was lined with supporters the whole way and spotting my family was a massive boost. However, I was very grateful for a few quieter sections where there were people sitting outside their homes handing out ice pops… and I heard 'Sweet Caroline ba ba ba' thousands of times!
I don't know if any other marathon would ever top that for crowd support and I definitely needed that! So many people running for charity with their own 'why's' for doing it. When else in London can you run the streets with Sharks, Telephone Boxes, RNLI and elephants? I’ve made lots of memories of a fabulous day.” – Caroline

Congratulations to everyone who took part, we hope you all had a fantastic day! Well done Caroline, for raising a total of £1044.41 for the MS Society.

It’s MS Awareness Week!

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord with a wide variety of symptoms.

One of our patients, Mel, has had MS for over 40 years and struggled with her mobility as a result of dropfoot. Using one of our DMO Custom Socks, Mel has seen quite the improvement in walking. She says it enables her to feel confident about where her foot actually is.

Mel also intermittently uses a pair of our DMO Essential Shorts. The compression helps her to manage her hip pain.

We’re very glad to have played a small part in helping Mel manage her condition, like we have done for many other patients with MS.

Our Clinical Specialist Orthotist, Caroline Jackson, is taking part in this year's London Marathon.

Getting primed and ready for the 26th April, Caroline has been using a pair of our own DMO Custom Shorts to help her train and support with her hypermobility. Our shorts help by offering firm compression and aid with proprioception & engagement of the glutes to provide better alignment of the legs.

While Caroline is a little sore, we’re very excited to see how she’ll do in the marathon. Good luck Caroline!
