Hold on to those who hold you up
When life has brought you down
Hold on to those who buoy you
When you’re worried you might drown
Hold on to those who say your name
When doubt is creeping in;
Who sit with you in silence
When there’s too much noise within
Hold on to those who sing your song
When you forget the words
Who listen for your voice
When you’re not sure you’re being heard
For they're the ones who see your spark
When shadows block your light
Who name the flame you try to hide
And keep it burning bright
They hold the mirror gently
To remind you who you are
They tilt it ‘til it catches light
That pierces through your dark
They know just when to give you space
And when to hold you tight
They know when life has left you low
And when you feel alright
So stand a little closer
To the ones that feel like air;
Who help you breathe a little easier
When they are there
And when you cannot love yourself
Hold on to those that do
But remember, it’s important
To be someone like that too
