🚨 Not Part of the Job. Not Tolerated. 🚨

Today we are showcasing our Zero Tolerance Campaign, sending a clear and uncompromising message that abuse, discrimination, harassment and unwanted behaviour towards our staff will not be accepted.

Every day, our colleagues work in complex and challenging environments, supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. While these settings can be demanding, exposure to unacceptable behaviour should never be seen as "part of the job."

Throughout the next month, we'll be sharing resources, information and practical guidance to empower staff to challenge inappropriate behaviour, report concerns and access support when they need it.

🎥 Watch this video message from our Director of People and Culture to learn more about the campaign and why it matters.

Together, we can create a culture where everyone feels safe, respected and supported.

Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate and thank all of our incredible nurses for the compassion, professionalism and dedication they bring every single day.

Our Deputy Director of Nursing & Quality has shared a special video message to recognise the invaluable contribution our nursing teams make to patients, families and colleagues across our organisation.

To all our nurses – thank you for the care, kindness and expertise you provide every day. Your work makes a lasting difference.

This Day, we’re celebrating Brogan, a Band 6 Nurse at Spectrum, whose courage and compassion truly reflect this year’s theme: “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” 💙

When a vulnerable patient was placed on a palliative pathway, Brogan questioned whether trauma, not informed choice was influencing the decision. Despite being one of the more junior members of the team, she spoke up, advocated for reassessment, and worked to build trust with the patient.

What happened next changed the course of that patient’s care completely.

We’re incredibly proud to share that we’ve been recognised as a Regional Champion in the Digital Innovation category at the first NHS Excellence Awards 🎉

In partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and HMPPS, we launched an innovative Virtual Ward at HMP Frankland to tackle the unique challenges of delivering healthcare in a high-security prison.

By using secure digital technology, prison healthcare teams can now share real-time clinical information with hospital specialists, supporting faster decision-making, reducing unnecessary hospital visits, and improving patient care and experience.

This work has helped reduce costly and complex hospital transfers, while ensuring patients receive care equivalent to community standards.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this possible 👏

What an incredible day đź’™

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who took part in Walk for Benny. The 13.1 mile journey around Durham wasn’t easy, but every single person showed amazing determination, strength and heart.

This walk meant so much, not just as a challenge, but as a way to support our Spectrum colleague and her nephew Benny as he bravely fights neuroblastoma. Seeing everyone come together, start together and finish together was truly special.

We’re so proud to share that £906 of our £1,000 target has already been raised 🎉 There’s still time to donate, and every little bit helps us get closer to helping Benny access life-saving treatment in Rome.

Let’s keep going and continue to Stand By Benny 💙Donate here: https://ow.ly/nRTS50YI7CA

This let's bust another myth!

If you think social prescribing is only for people with long term health conditions, it's not!

Social prescribing can support anyone with unmet needs affecting their health and wellbeing. It's particularly affective for those lacking confidence, skills or motivation to access support themselves.

It works especially well for people experiencing loneliness or isolation, mental health challenges, frequent GP or A&E visits for non-medical issues, complex social needs, or long term health conditions.

Myth: Social prescribing is only for people who do not want to take medication.

Fact: Social prescribing is a complementary approach to improving health and wellbeing. It addresses the social, emotional and practical factors that affect mental and physical health.
