๐ช Shoulder Pain?
It Could Be Supraspinatus Tendinopathy
The supraspinatus is one of the four muscles that make up your rotator cuff.
๐น Common symptoms include:
โข Pain when lifting your arm
โข Pain reaching behind your back
โข Discomfort when lying on the arm
โข Weakness
โข Pain that gradually develops rather than starting from one specific injury
๐ค Why does it happen?
Shoulder tendinopathy can develop when the tendon is exposed to more load than it is currently able to tolerate. This might happen after increasing gym activity, repetitive overhead work, a change in sport or lifestyle.
๐ The good news?
Most shoulder tendinopathies can be successfully managed with the right rehabilitation programme.
Treatment may include:
โ
Education and activity modification
โ
Progressive strengthening exercises
โ
Rotator cuff and shoulder blade exercises
โ
Gradual return to lifting and overhead activities
โ
Hands-on treatment where appropriate
