💙This is why we do what we do.

One of the things we hear most often from patients who haven't been to the dentist in a while is that they're worried they'll be judged.

We want you to know — you won't be.

Thank you to this patient for sharing such kind words about their experience at our Māngere Bridge clinic. Knowing that they felt welcomed, understood, and cared for means so much to our whole team.

We understand that dental anxiety is real, and we believe every patient deserves to be met with patience, kindness, and understanding — no matter how long it's been since their last visit.

No judgement. No shame. Just a team here to listen, support you, and help you take the next step towards better oral health.

Looking after you and your whānau is at the heart of what we do. 💙

MyDental and Dr Asa giving back to the islands 🇹🇴🌴

At MyDental, we believe caring for people goes beyond the walls of our clinic.

Recently, Dr Asa travelled to Tonga, where he had the opportunity to give back by donating dental materials and equipment and spending time working alongside the dental team at Vaiola Hospital.

The trip was made even more special as he celebrated the 200th Jubilee of the Church in Tonga with his Tongan Methodist Church choir, alongside family and lifelong friends.

Our roots are something we're incredibly proud of, and being able to give back to the communities that have shaped us is a privilege we don't take for granted.

Looking after you and your whānau is at the heart of what we do; wherever that opportunity takes us. 💙

🌟Mānawatia a Matariki

Matariki is a time to remember those who have gone before us, celebrate the present, and look forward to the year ahead with hope and gratitude. It's also a reminder of the importance of connection with our whānau, our community, and one another.

We will be closed today for Matariki. We will be back in the clinic ready to look after you tomorrow. 💙

FAQ: How do you get tooth decay?

Think of plaque like a sticky film, similar to soap scum building up in the shower, if it’s not cleaned away properly, it stays there.

When we eat sugary foods, the bacteria in plaque feed on it and produce acid. Over time, that acid slowly weakens the tooth surface — a bit like how rust gradually wears down metal. It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s usually slow, quiet, and painless at first.

If the decay moves past the protective outer layer (enamel), a filling is usually needed. And if left until it becomes painful, more complex treatment — such as a root canal or extraction — may be required.

That’s why we emphasise prevention. With regular brushing, flossing, and routine check-ups, we can often catch it early. In some cases, a high-strength fluoride treatment can help strengthen the tooth and stop early decay from progressing.

If it's been a while, we're here when you're ready. Start with a check-up.

What makes Mydental different - Our Values

At our clinic, dentistry is about more than just teeth. It’s about how we care for you and your whānau — because looking after you and your whānau is at the heart of what we do. 🩵

The way we practise is guided by the values that shape our team and our environment:
✨️ Faka’apa’apa (Respect) - treating every patient with dignity, warmth, and understanding
✨️ Loto tō (Humility) - listening first, explaining clearly, and approaching care with openness
✨️ Tauhi Vā (Nurturing Relationships) - building genuine, long-term connections based on trust
✨️ Mamahi’i Mea (Loyalty & Passion) - taking pride in our work and caring deeply about the community we serve

You’ll see these values in every detail of our clinic - in the way we welcome you, in the time we take to explain your options, in the calm atmosphere we create, and in the genuine teamwork behind the scenes.

This is how we do things differently. With heart. With integrity. With whānau at the centre. 💙
