🚨 A quick heads-up for this weekend 🚨

Unfortunately, DUDAC is expecting to be short-staffed at times this weekend, so you may experience longer-than-usual waiting times. We apologise in advance for any delays and appreciate your patience and understanding.

If you need care this weekend there are a few other options that may be suitable depending on your needs:

💊 Pharmacy
For simple, minor ailments, your local pharmacist can often provide advice and treatment without needing to see a doctor.

💻 Online GP — https://www.healthnz.govt.nz/online-phone-healthcare/online-gp-care
For some many illnesses and medical concerns, an online GP consultation may be a convenient option. This is free for tamariki under 14.

📞 Healthline — 0800 611 116
Free, 24/7 health advice. Healthline can help you work out what care you need and where best to access it.

🩺 Your usual GP
If your concern is not urgent and can safely wait, consider booking with your regular GP when they reopen.

🚑 Emergency Department / 111
If you have a medical emergency or are seriously unwell, please call 111 or go directly to the Emergency Department.

If your concern is something that can safely wait for the next available online appointment, this could be a good alternative to DUDAC — particularly while we’re experiencing very busy wait times.

And for tamariki aged 13 and under, online GP appointments are FREE 🩵

Did you know Online GP Care is now free for tamariki aged 13 and under?

If your child is feeling unwell, and you can’t see your usual GP, Health New Zealand's Online GP Care service can help families access healthcare advice from home.

What it offers ⬇️
- Online GP consultations by video or phone
- Available 24/7 through participating providers
- Intended for non-urgent health concerns.

If you're enrolled with a GP, consultation notes can be shared with your regular doctor to help maintain continuity of care.

Another busy week at DUDAC 💙

We’ve also experienced lots of staff sickness this week, which has put extra pressure on our team.

We know that, particularly when healthcare services are busy, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to go for the right care.

Health New Zealand has a helpful guide to where to access healthcare, from your GP and pharmacy through to urgent care and the ED.

❄️ A reminder to take extra care if you’re out and about in the snow today.

Road conditions may be hazardous, so please only travel if you need to and allow extra time to get where you’re going safely.

We’ve been experiencing exceptionally high demand over the past couple of weeks. If your condition isn’t urgent, please consider waiting until you can see your GP. This helps us prioritise patients who need immediate care and reduces unnecessary travel in the adverse weather.
