The Power of Choosing Hard.
At 59 years old, standing on the edge of stepping onto the bodybuilding stage, I find myself reflecting on what it truly takes to transform.
Since April, the numbers tell part of the story:
• Weight: 106.5 kg down to 85.9 kg (over 20 kg lost)
• Body fat: 20.2% down to 5.4%
• Waist: 96 cm down to 71 cm
• Lean muscle mass: fully maintained and primed.
Behind those metrics lies an emotional, demanding journey.
Preparation at this level is not glamorous. It means weighing every meal, navigating strict nutritional deficits, pushing through heavy training sessions on low energy, and constantly fine-tuning recovery.
It tests your patience, your mood, and your mental resilience. There were days when doubt crept in and fatigue felt overwhelming.
Adversity breeds greatness. Growth never happens inside the boundaries of comfort; it demands that you become comfortable being uncomfortable. When you voluntarily embrace friction, discipline takes over where fleeting motivation leaves off.
My biggest mission throughout this prep has never been just about a trophy or a physique milestone. It is about showing what is possible—especially to men over 50 who might feel their best physical years are behind them.
Too often, society suggests that entering your 50s and beyond is a signal to wind down, accept declining health, and settle into complacency. I reject that narrative entirely.
Age is simply a chronological marker, not a physical expiration date. Your body remains remarkably responsive to standard resistance training, intentional nutrition, and relentless consistency at any stage of life.
Challenging yourself when everything in you wants comfort is deeply rewarding. Setting an ambitious target, holding yourself ruthlessly accountable, and seeing it through rebuilds your self-belief from the ground up. The discipline you forge in the gym spills directly into your business, your leadership, and your relationships.
To anyone sitting on the fence, wondering if it is too late to make a change: take the first step. You do not need to prep for a bodybuilding show; you simply need to move, lift, and demand more from yourself today than you did yesterday.
Thank you to everyone who has followed this ride, sent messages of encouragement, and shared their own goals with me. If my journey inspires just one person to get off the couch, pick up a weight, and take charge of their vitality, every single ounce of sacrifice was worth it.
The final stage is here, just 2 days away now. Let’s finish strong.🔥
