BANA’s 2026 Fall Meeting is coming to Atlanta!

The Braille Authority of North America (BANA) will hold its fall meeting November 4–6, 2026, hosted by Georgia Tech’s Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation (CIDI).

The meeting will bring together BANA member organizations to advance Braille and tactile graphics standards, collaboration, and literacy for tactile readers.

This past August we were so happy to welcome a bipartisan delegation of congressional staff representing the offices of U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, alongside staff from numerous Georgia congressional districts.

During this visit these delegates showed their shared commitment to understanding the needs of all Georgians with their thoughtful questions about accessibility.

To CIDI this dedication to learning about accessibility is especially important as we collaborate among federal agencies, the State of Georgia, Georgia Tech, schools, employers, and community organizations to develop programs that create meaningful outcomes for people with disabilities and older adults.

Thank you to the offices of Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, and to the offices of Representatives Rick W. Allen, Buddy Carter, Mike Collins, Clay Fuller, Brian Jack, Barry Loudermilk, Lucy McBath, and Nikema Williams for coming to learn about the critical role federal partnerships play in helping Georgians with disabilities pursue education, work, and community participation.

Happy International Day of Sign Languages!

Today, we celebrate the power of accessible communication and the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

At CIDI, we support communication access through services including real-time captioning, CART, captioned media, and transcription. In 2025, our team provided real-time captioning for 3,788 college course sessions and served 44 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Sarah Stricker to CIDI as our new ICT-UX Manager! 🎉

Sarah has been a subject matter expert in digital accessibility for more than a decade, including extensive hands-on experience in automated and manual accessibility testing and management. Her work has taken her from positions such as being an independent consultant for a wide range of customers, including a healthcare education company and an ecological non-profit, to working at the University of California, Berkley, as an Educational Technology Specialist. She obtained her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Georgia and her M.A. in Communication Studies at Colorado State University.

We’re so happy she found her way to CIDI, so please join us in welcoming her to the team!
