Menopause is a natural biological transition, but what’s actually happening in the body? 💙
Menopause is officially reached after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. It occurs as the ovaries produce less estrogen and progesterone, hormones that influence far more than the menstrual cycle.
That hormonal shift can affect sleep, mood, metabolism, bone health, sexual health, body temperature, energy, and more, which is why the experience can look so different from one woman to another.
And the transition doesn’t happen overnight. Perimenopause can begin years before menopause, with changing hormone levels causing symptoms even while periods are still occurring.
Menopause isn’t a disease but its symptoms are real, and women don’t have to navigate them without support.
This Menopause Awareness Month, we’re sharing more about what happens during this transition and the options available to help women feel their best through midlife and beyond.
