Not every restriction needs a release.

That's why we evaluate the function first.

At Latched Beginnings, families receive a thoughtful, comprehensive assessment that looks beyond anatomy alone. We consider feeding, symptoms, oral function, and the whole clinical picture before making recommendations.

When a release is appropriate, we'll explain why. When it's not, we'll help families understand the next best step.

Because the best care starts with the right diagnosis—not the fastest procedure.

You are the expert on your baby.

You're there for every feeding, every cry, every diaper change, and every sleepless night. So if something doesn't feel right, it's okay to trust that feeling.

Seeking a second opinion isn't being pushy or paranoid.

It's parenting.

Whether the concern is a tongue tie, feeding challenge, or something else entirely, you deserve a careful evaluation and answers you can trust.

Your baby deserves to be seen fully and gently. And your concerns deserve to be heard. 💕

The standard of care is screening.

Healthcare providers aren't expected to treat every condition—but they are responsible for recognizing when something may need further evaluation and referring families to the right expert.

Early identification matters. Thoughtful screening matters. And helping families find answers matters.

That's how we provide better care. 💕

Better answers happen when we look at both structure and function.

At Latched Beginnings, families don't have to choose between an anatomical evaluation and a feeding assessment—we do both in the same visit.

That means fewer appointments, clearer communication, and a more complete picture for families and referring providers alike.

Because great care happens when we work together. 💕

What happens during your first evaluation?

First, we listen.

We'll talk about your concerns, your baby's symptoms, and your feeding journey. Then we'll gently assess your baby's lip, cheeks, tongue, oral function, and movement patterns.

Most importantly, we'll explain everything in clear, simple language, answer your questions, and create a plan tailored to your family's needs.

You'll leave with more clarity, more confidence, and a better understanding of your next steps. 💕

Connected Care is a one hour virtual circle where you can ask me your real tongue-tie and lip-tie questions, talk through when a referral is worth it and when it is not, and get to know the team at Latched Beginnings. Every baby who walks through our doors gets treated like our own🤍

Before your little one ever comes through our doors, we take time to review your history and understand your feeding journey.

Then comes our favorite part—meeting your baby.

We work to keep them calm, comfortable, and feeling safe before we ever begin an evaluation. During the exam, we carefully assess latch, tongue mobility, lip movement, feeding function, and look for tongue, lip, or buccal ties. We also consider airway development, body tension, and overall feeding patterns.

And when we're finished, we place them right back in mom's arms. 💕

No matter how many babies we meet, that moment never gets old.

"Should we just wait and see?" 🤍

It's one of the most honest questions a parent can ask me. And I never take it lightly.

Because the truth is, waiting and hoping is absolutely your choice to make as a family. I will never pressure you out of it. But I do want to make sure you have the full picture before you decide.

So let me be honest with you.

For some babies, a tongue tie may have minimal impact over time. But for others, the effects quietly compound. Feeding difficulties in infancy can transition into picky eating in toddlerhood. Then sometimes speech challenges as they grow.

And as those kiddos continue to develop, they're more likely to have narrow dental arches, which can lead to dental crowding and even play a role in airway restriction. That can disrupt sleep patterns into childhood, and in some cases, follow them all the way into adulthood as sleep apnea.

Here's what I wish more parents knew. The tongue plays a role in so much more than feeding. It shapes the palate. It supports the airway. It drives proper swallowing patterns for life. ✨

So if you've been wondering whether to wait, I want you to feel informed, not pressured. Let's sit down together, evaluate your baby, and talk through what the path forward could look like.
