What if strength isn’t about carrying everything alone?

For this week’s reflection on caring for ourselves and others, Contigo board member Cy Herrera shared a reminder that resilience doesn’t have to happen in isolation.

We all move through difficult moments. We all experience times when we need support, rest, care, or someone to help carry the weight alongside us.

Maybe being “strong” isn’t about never struggling.
Maybe it’s about building relationships and communities where we don’t have to struggle alone.

Para la reflexión de esta semana sobre cuidarnos a nosotros mismos y a los demás, Cy Herrera, integrante de la mesa directiva de Contigo, compartió un recordatorio: la resiliencia no tiene que suceder en aislamiento.

Todas las personas atravesamos momentos difíciles. Todas necesitamos apoyo, descanso, cuidado o alguien que nos acompañe a cargar el peso por momentos.

Tal vez “ser fuertes” no significa nunca batallar.
Tal vez significa construir relaciones y comunidades donde no tengamos que pasar por todo solos.

Ancestral memory isn’t abstract. It shows up in real life.
In your reactions.
In your relationships.
In the patterns you keep finding yourself in.

It’s the wisdom, resilience, and survival knowledge passed down through generations, living in the body whether we’ve named it or not.
Sometimes it feels like instinct.
Sometimes like grief.
Sometimes like “why do I keep doing this?”

The healing circle on Saturday, May 9th is a space to slow down and actually notice what’s been carried, what’s been inherited, and what you want to do with it now. There’s no need to have the “right” words, and no need to come in knowing anything. Just come curious.

La memoria ancestral no es abstracta. Se manifiesta en el día a día.
En tus reacciones.
En tus relaciones.
En los patrones que sigues repitiendo.

Es la sabiduría, resiliencia y conocimiento de sobrevivencia transmitido de generación en generación, viviendo en el cuerpo aunque no siempre lo nombremos.
A veces se siente como intuición.
A veces como duelo.
A veces como “¿por qué sigo haciendo esto?”

El círculo de sanación el Sábado 9 de Mayo es un espacio para pausar y realmente notar qué se ha cargado, qué se ha heredado y qué quieres hacer con eso ahora. No necesitas tener las palabras “correctas.” No necesitas saber nada antes de llegar. Solo ven con curiosidad.

As we deepen into spring season, a time for new growth, we honor all the ways growth happens in our worlds. As a reminder, you don’t have to carry everything alone.

We’re excited for all these accessible wellness offerings! ALMA (Soul) Healing Circles are free bilingual community spaces rooted in cultural wisdom, trauma-informed care, and collective healing.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll move together through:
- understanding trauma + the body
- learning tools for stress and regulation
- reconnecting to ancestral memory
- building community and support
- reclaiming voice and story

This is not about “fixing” you—this is about (re)membering you were never broken.
