Relocating is rarely about the job itself. More often, it’s about leaving what’s familiar.

𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is a new series sharing what career moves have actually looked like for sonographers across our team — where they went, what surprised them, and what came next.

For Julie, the hardest part of moving from Georgia to College Station was being away from friends and family. What turned out to be easier than she expected was adjusting to the new area.

Since making the move, she’s passed her Fetal Echo registry and attended the Tiny Hearts fetal echo course in Austin. Her advice to another sonographer thinking about a move like this? “𝘋𝘰 𝘪𝘵.”

If summer slipped past you this year, that's allowed. Fall is always a busy time for us, and rest doesn't have to be a whole week off to count. A real lunch counts. So does the PTO day you keep moving to next month.

You're often the calmest person in the room. That's not the same as feeling calm.

Scanning can be emotionally heavy, and you carry it while keeping things steady for the family in front of you. Do that every day with no release valve and it wears on you in ways a stretch can't fix.

Mental health benefits belong in the wellness conversation here, right next to the ergonomics.

Meet Jordan B., our Oklahoma Charge Sonographer.

Jordan’s interest in ultrasound goes all the way back to age 12. During a heart ablation, she got to see her own heart on an ultrasound. That experience sparked an interest that stayed with her.

Years later, Jordan is the one caring for patients and making a difference during some of their most important moments.
