I’ve been struggling all week knowing today was coming.
What do you say? What can you say about a day that changed so much for so many?
Twenty-five years ago, I was standing in my bathroom blow-drying my hair when my husband called and said, “Turn on the TV.”
I remember it as if it were yesterday. We were expecting our first daughter in less than two months. I remember the fear. The confusion. The uncertainty. I remember wondering what kind of world we were about to bring our baby into.
And like all of you who lived through that day, I watched the unimaginable unfold. Today, 25 years later, I remember the lives that were lost. The families who said goodbye that morning never knowing it would be the last time. The first responders who ran toward danger when every instinct must have told them to run away. And the countless lives that would never again be the same.
But I also remember what happened afterward. We reached for one another. Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers helped strangers. We grieved together. We held each other a little tighter. And for a time, the things that divided us seemed so much smaller than everything we shared.
Maybe that's part of what never forget means to me. Remember the lives. Remember the sacrifice. Remember the families. Remember the courage. And remember our humanity.
Twenty-five years later, may we honor those we lost not only with our remembrance, but with a little more kindness, a little more compassion and a little more grace for one another.

We are always better together and may we never forget.
