Last week, The Decision Project gave away backpacks and school supplies in Montgomery County. We had an amazing day in the community, helping kids get ready for a brand-new school year. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it so special! Infinite Legacy Legado Infinito

🎉 And that’s a wrap on our Block Party season!

To everyone who attended, volunteered, performed, partnered with us, or simply stopped by to learn more, thank you for making this season so special.

Last week, even as the wind picked up and the rain started coming down, the Baltimore community still showed up! ❤️

Families received free school supplies to help children and teens prepare for the upcoming school year, community members enjoyed free haircuts, and our incredible health and wellness vendors spent the afternoon sharing resources, answering questions, and helping make important health information more accessible.

That is what these Block Parties are all about: bringing resources, education, and conversations about health and organ, eye, and tissue donation directly into the communities we serve.

A huge thank-you to every vendor who joined us and shared their time, knowledge, and expertise. Your presence helped create a space where community members could ask questions, learn, and connect with valuable health resources.

🎶 And of course, it wouldn’t be a Block Party without the entertainment!

Thank you to Baltimore’s talented Twilighters and Citywide Goldstarz marching bands for bringing the energy, along with our incredible artist lineup: April Hall, Davon Fleming, Martina Lynch, and George Lovett. You kept the celebration going all afternoon!

We’re also grateful to our sponsors, the Black Arts District, Councilman James Torrence, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Mondawmin Mall, The Village at Mondawmin, and Evergen Donor Services, for helping make this event possible.

While our Block Party season may be over, the work of The Decision Project continues.

We meet people where they are, literally. Through school programs, health fairs, barbershop dialogues, church partnerships, community events, and our signature Block Parties, we continue creating opportunities for people to learn more about their health and make informed decisions about organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Whether we’re developing youth-focused STEM programs, providing donation education, or supporting young changemakers through scholarships, everything we do comes back to one belief:

Trust is earned through presence, honesty, and care.

Our goal isn’t to persuade. It’s to empower.

And we’re just getting started. 💚

August is National Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month.

What is Multiethnic Donor Awareness Month (Also known as NMDAM)?

NMDAM was created in 1996 by the National Minority Organ Tissue Transplant Education Program (MOTTEP) and Clive Callender, M.D to raise awareness about health disparities and the impact of organ donation and transplantation in minority communities.

Read more to learn more of NMDAM's history and how health disparities continue to impact multiethnic communities.

Community connection looks a lot like laughter, games, new backpacks, and neighbors coming together! 🎒💚

Last Wednesday, our Community Outreach Coordinator, Darlene Wood, spent the afternoon connecting, playing, and building relationships with young people in Capitol Heights, Maryland, alongside the Prince George's County Police Department

This community outreach event brought youth, adults, local law enforcement, and families together for an afternoon of fun, movement, and meaningful connection. Moments like these help strengthen police-community relationships and create a more connected Prince George’s County.

To help students prepare for the upcoming school year, each young person also received a backpack filled with essential school supplies. ✏️📚

A special thank-you to Dave & Buster's and the Prince George's County Police Department's Community Engagement Unit for sponsoring this event and supporting local youth and families.

Grassroots community work starts by showing up, spending time together, and creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed. We’re grateful to have shared such a joyful afternoon with the Capitol Heights community!

What kind of community event would you love to see next in Prince George’s County? Share your ideas in the comments! 👇

Given the unhealthy air quality conditions caused by smoke from the Canadian wildfires, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the White Oak Block Party scheduled for Saturday, July 18.

The health and safety of our community always come first.

We hope to see all of you at our Summers in the Sevens Block Party in Baltimore on Saturday, August 8. Thanks for your support and understanding.
