Severe period pain often gets chalked up entirely to the uterus, but the pelvic floor muscles can tighten in response to that monthly pain, adding a second layer that lingers even after your period ends. Over time, that guarding pattern can become its own source of pain.
If pain meds and heating pads aren't cutting it anymore, it may be worth having your pelvic floor looked at too.
