This pride month has been full of q***r/sapphic reads 🏳️‍🌈📖

🚀 Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid- I loved this book so much I had to read it again, and it ripped me open and swallowed me whole just like the first time. If you saw me ugly crying on the beach, no you didn’t 🥲

☀️ Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth- I had this on my TBR for soooo long and finally picked up a copy at The Buzzed Word . It’s giving “Guilty as Sin?” by Taylor Swift in the way it portrays religious guilt and the feeling of sin as you fall in love with your best friend. This was way more heart-wrenching than I anticipated, but that’s sometimes the reality of q***r love and I appreciate the bandaid being ripped off.

🔮 The Lovers by Rebekah Faubion- I first read this last year on my flight to Napa Valley since it’s set in CA. I weirdly had so much in common with one of the characters: a tarot reader with pink curly hair who came out later in life and even shared my sun and rising signs?? I didn’t love that the only le***an and diverse characters were villainized, but this book did inspire my birthday trip to LA and Joshua Tree, so I’ll always have a soft spot for it!

🏳️‍🌈 A Language of Limbs by Dylin Hardcastle- This one came highly recommended by Mickie Meinhardt , so I knew it had to be good. I had to put it down at times just to process the depth of it all and for most of the book, I thought the two narrators were the same person who had chosen different paths before realizing otherwise. I’ve never read anything quite like it and would love to explore more from this author!

⚽️ Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner- After the emotional devastation of the last two books, I needed something light and easy. It didn’t hold my attention particularly well and felt oddly familiar as I kept reading… turns out I’d already read it 🙃 It felt a little bit like a Megan Rapinoe fan-fic?

📖 I’m currently reading “Looking for a Sign” by Susie Dumond, where an Aries decides to date a woman from every zodiac sign to find her perfect match. As an astrologer, I’m here for it ✨💓

🐦 I recently got really into birdwatching.
(they warned us this would happen in our 30s and they were absolutely right)

🏊 I was a competitive swimmer for years and it’s still my favorite way to move my body

🧙🏻‍♀️After doing some digging into my ancestry, I discovered that I’m a descendant of Goody Proctor from the Salem Witch Trials (this may explain my childhood obsession)

🎵 Making playlists is one of my love languages. Lately, they’ve been filled with Gigi Perez, Noah Kahan, Alanis Morissette, Rihanna, & Fleetwood Mac

🐚 In my free time you’ll usually find me hunting for shells on the beach, wandering through thrift stores, or spending time with my fiancée and our pets 🥰

In between a busy day of work calls, I let my dog out into the backyard and couldn’t believe how many of these leaves had fallen so quickly. It literally looked like a constant sheet of rain from the petals falling overhead .

I started sweeping them off our steps, admittedly a bit annoyed that I’ve been having to do this so frequently.

But after a few moments, I paused and looked closer. I saw that each yellow leaf had the shape of a heart; a beautiful, neon-orange heart.

I then looked out at the blanket of them across our yard, no longer seeing them as a nuisance to maintain, but instead as an abundance of heart-shaped confetti from Mother Nature herself, decorating the ground with her wonder.

It’s so easy to get caught up in stress and the overwhelming feeling that there’s never enough time in the day to do everything we need to do. But this tiny moment of presence and perspective created such a meaningful shift in my outlook. There’s magic all around us, we just need to seek it ✨
