Happy Mother’s Day to all! All who played any role in loving, guiding, raising another.

Remembering my mother on this day. She was special. So wise, always there, created a safe space growing up.

Her favorite flowers were daisies, and that is what made up her wedding bouquet.

I turned 65 this week, and I would like to share what this means to me.

Mostly I feel grateful. Grateful for my family and friends grateful for my health and ability to move, grateful to be living…..really living.

What that means to each of us will be different. Some expect this with no work or attention. That is not my experience. As my body has changed I have and continue to learn what it needs to move with relative ease, and to feel good.

This personal investment is worth its weight in gold as far as I am concerned. I live without pain, I participate in activities that I may not be able to otherwise, I have fun and it all makes me happy!

But it takes time, patience, education, and a commitment to practice.

Practice is key!!!!
Evolving over time is an ongoing process.
And through this process we are rewarded.

I love teaching the Yamuna work. It can be simple at times, sometimes more complex, but always powerful.

Teaching skills that people can carry out on their own, creates a sense of comfort when addressing needs in our bodies.

As skills are developed, I watch my clients learn so much about themselves and how their bodies function.

Awareness is our very first step to change.

And these skills support all the other things we love to do in life!

One of the things I have always loved about Pilates is that it is accessible to everyone!

Any age, any stage of life, any injuries, any goals, whatever your story is, Pilates has something to offer.

Pilates is individualized to meet the needs of each of your clients.

It has been so much fun working with as she prepares for her next phase of life!

Keep moving, stay active, and listen to your body. What we need at one point in time may be very different in another.

My client has approved sharing his information.

He has been seeing me for 12 years. He continues to trim his trees, cut his lawn, shovel snow and so on.

He turned 77 in November.

Keep moving. Find out what your body needs to keep going and use it!

Here we are creating more space between the pelvis on the ribs , while opening the shoulders and hips.
Space to breathe better, and space for all other organs as well.

Taking care of yourself will pay off, as you live without pain, active, mobile, independent.

Pilates Mat incorporates 5 series of movement known as the stomach series. This is the 1st of the 5 known as Single Leg Stretch with bent knee.

We are working deep hip flexion in the bent leg, while reaching and extending the other leg, opening the front of the hip, while deepening work in the back of the leg and glute.

Of course we are working our stomach! But it is a full body workout from head to toe.

Many want to rotate either the pelvis or the shoulders, but learning to keep the pelvis stable and square, as well as the shoulder girdle is critical.

This is early in the Mat exercises and gets our body good and warmed up as we proceed with the rest of the class!
