💛🌼 Dance To Be Free at La Vista & The Beacon 🌼💛

Ten years ago, Lucy Wallace brought Dance To Be Free to La Vista. Since then, DTBF has completed more than 20 trainings, helping build a lasting culture of dance, leadership, and community. 💪

Every Thursday, La Vista’s dance leaders teach two one-hour classes for the general population—bringing women together to move, connect, and experience freedom through rhythm. This Thursday night was a powerful class! The women were dancing the choreography of Lucy Wallace and Misa Terral, and several of their own pieces. 💛

With La Vista’s primary dance leader recently released, DTBF returned this week for a leadership workshop focused on strengthening the team and building teaching, choreography, and facilitation skills. We’ll be back in September, followed by a full training with the general population later this fall. 💛

And this week, we also made our way to Cañon City to dance with the men at The Beacon (Skyline). Yesterday’s session was full of energy, improv, a dance battle, and even an old-school Zapp Soul Train! 🔥
💛We’ll be back at The Beacon in late September.

Honoring our dear mommas today at with Tsuki, Stacee Hall McGovern’s (DTBF president) new sweet pup. Tsuki couldn’t stop loving on Lucy Wallace (DTBF Founder)!🐾

Gorgeous day! ☀️We are so pumped about the season to come with more prison work in Dance To Be Free. Lucy and I head to Canyon City next week 🙂
