The PMU healing rollercoaster 🎢😂

If you’ve ever had permanent makeup done, you KNOW there are a few moments during healing where you’re like…

“Wait…is this normal?” 👀

And yes; usually, it is. 🤍

Permanent makeup is a HEALING process, and the way your brows or lips look immediately after your appointment is not your final result.

They may start out bold and beautiful, become darker as the pigment settles, then get dry, flaky, patchy, or even look like some of the color disappeared.

Don’t panic. 😂

Once that outer layer of skin sheds, the color begins to soften and gradually resurface as your skin continues healing underneath.

By around 4 weeks, you’re getting a much better picture of your healed result.

I share this because I want you to know exactly what to expect, not just show you the pretty “before & after” pictures.

PMU can be such a confidence boost, but the healing process definitely has a personality of its own. 😂🎢

I could talk about lip blush all day; and for good reason.

You might be thinking, “Why would I get lip blush when I can just wear lipstick?” And honestly, that’s a fair question.

The difference is that lipstick is temporary. It wears off, smudges, transfers, and many formulas can leave your lips feeling dry or cakey throughout the day.

Lip blush is different. It enhances your natural lip color, restores definition, and gives your lips a healthy, fresh-looking tint that you wake up with every day.

As a permanent makeup artist, I can honestly say lip blush is one of the best treatments I’ve ever done for myself. It brought so much life and color back into my lips, and I feel like it brightened my entire face. I still wear gloss or lipstick sometimes because I love makeup, but now I have a beautiful base that looks great even without it.

It’s one of those treatments that gives you a naturally polished look with very little effort.

Ideally, you want your brows to fade about 50% before scheduling a color boost. This gives me enough room to refresh the pigment without oversaturating the skin.

If your brows still have a lot of color or appear very saturated, I’d recommend waiting a little longer. Every person’s skin holds pigment differently, so there’s no one-size-fits-all timeline.

The goal isn’t to keep adding pigment year after year—it’s to maintain soft, natural-looking brows that age beautifully. 🤍

Sun, sweat, and fresh PMU don’t mix ☀️💦

During the first 7-10 days, your skin is actively healing and locking in pigment. Too much heat, sweating, or sun exposure can irritate the area and interfere with how the pigment settles into the skin.

The better the aftercare, the better the healed results ✨
