Adults living with type 1 diabetes are still being overlooked in conversations around screening and early detection.
Too many adults are being misdiagnosed as type 2 diabetes or told they’re “too old” to develop type 1.
Meanwhile, most screening campaigns and awareness efforts continue to focus heavily on children and families.
Type 1 diabetes does not stop happening after childhood.
At Grownup T1Ds we hear these stories constantly from adults diagnosed later in life and from people who spent months or years fighting to be taken seriously.
This has to change.
