What do I know three years into owning CFC that I had no clue about on day one? 🌿

First, running a business is significantly more challenging than I ever realized as an associate. There’s so much happening behind the scenes that has nothing to do with treating patients. But I’m also incredibly grateful for how much it has stretched me and helped me grow.

Clinically, one of my biggest lessons has been this.

Providing great care doesn’t mean giving every patient everything I know all at once.

Earlier in my career, I sometimes felt like I needed to move everyone toward the most comprehensive version of care possible. Now I understand that the best care begins with meeting the person in front of me exactly where they are.

Every patient has a different history. Different goals. Different resources. And a different level of readiness.

My job is to listen, figure out what will support that person most right now, and keep adapting as they grow.

Three years later I have more knowledge. But I also have more humility, more patience, and a much deeper appreciation for truly individualized care.

Thank you to everyone who’s trusted us with theirs. šŸ¤

Three years ago, I opened Core Foundations. Here’s why. 🌿

I wanted to build the kind of practice I felt was still missing in healthcare. One that truly looks at the whole person.

The practice I worked at previously was incredible. It gave me a strong foundation and showed me what thoughtful, high-quality care looks like. But I wanted to go further into the whole body approach I’d become so passionate about.

That’s really where the name came from.

We have our central core, extending from the neck all the way down to the pelvic floor. And we have the core of the foot, our foundation and our connection to the ground.

But a foundation is more than physical.

It’s also how you’re doing emotionally and mentally. How you’re sleeping. How you’re fueling yourself. How you’re moving. How you’re managing stress.

All of it holds you up.

And the stronger and more adaptable that foundation is, the more confidently you can build on top of it.

That’s what I want CFC to help people do. Not just address what hurts today, but build something underneath that holds.

šŸ’¬ Comment ā€œCALLā€ for a free consultation.
šŸ”– Save this if you’ve been treated as a symptom rather than a person.
ā†—ļø Tag someone who deserves care that looks at the whole picture.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of these three years. šŸ¤

Your body didn’t fail you. It adapted. 🌿

That distinction matters more than it sounds.

Slouching. Clenching. Guarding. Tension. It’s easy to read those as your body doing something wrong. Poor posture. Bad habits. Something you should be able to correct with enough willpower.

They aren’t malfunctions. They’re protection.

At some point your body encountered something it needed to protect you from. An injury. A period of prolonged stress. A position it held for too long. And it responded exactly as designed. It tightened around the area. It shifted load away from what hurt. It braced.

That response worked. It kept you functioning while you got through it.

The problem is what happened next.

Your body never got the signal that it was safe to stand down. So the protection stayed on. The muscles kept guarding. The compensation became your default. And what started as a short-term response quietly became the way you hold yourself.

Years later, you’re still carrying a protective pattern for something that resolved a long time ago.

Which is why fighting it doesn’t work. You can’t willpower your way out of a protective response. Your body is doing it for a reason, even if the reason has expired.

What helps is giving your nervous system enough evidence that the threat is gone, so it can finally release what it’s been holding.

That’s the work. Not correcting a flaw. Helping your body finish something it started.

šŸ’¬ Comment ā€œCALLā€ below for a free consultation.
šŸ”– Save this if you’ve been fighting your own body for a while.
ā†—ļø Tag someone who’s been told to just sit up straight.

Your body has been protecting you. It just needs to know it can stop.

If you’ve tried meditation and thought ā€œthis just isn’t for meā€ — this might change your mind. 🌿

This month’s Core Foundations challenge is movement meditation.

Because calming your nervous system doesn’t always happen by doing less. Sometimes it happens by moving differently.

Here’s why it matters:

Your nervous system is constantly taking in information. Emails, notifications, noise, stress. Even when you don’t realize it, your brain is working overtime.

The goal isn’t to eliminate stress. That’s not realistic, and it was never the point. The goal is to give your brain opportunities to recognize that it’s safe.

A few ways to practice:

🌿 CHILD’S POSE
A supported, grounded position that naturally encourages slower breathing and helps many people shift into a more relaxed state. Just a few minutes is enough.

🌿 LEGS UP THE WALL
After being on your feet all day, this one can feel incredibly restorative. Especially at night. Pair it with slow nasal breathing for 5 to 10 minutes and it becomes an easy way to intentionally slow down.

🌿 A WALK WITHOUT YOUR PHONE
Maybe our favorite. No podcast, no music, no scrolling. Just notice your surroundings. Listen to the birds. Feel your feet hitting the ground. Pay attention to your breathing.

Our brains were never designed to process constant stimulation. Giving yourself even 10 or 15 minutes without digital input can be incredibly refreshing.

Meditation doesn’t have to look one specific way. Sometimes it’s slowing your breath. Sometimes it’s changing your position. Sometimes it’s simply walking outside and paying attention.

This month, we challenge you to find just 10 minutes each day to practice movement meditation and see how your body responds.

šŸ”– Save this for the days you need the reminder.
ā†—ļø Tag us in your favorite movement meditation this month — we’d love to see it.

Your nervous system deserves a moment to rest.

Your feet are not the problem. The story you were told about them might be.

Most people go their whole lives never questioning what they heard about flat arches, sore feet, or ā€œsupportiveā€ shoes. Then they spend twenty years managing something that could have been trained instead.

Here is what we tested with a room full of people last week.

Everyone folded forward and noted where their fingers landed. Then two minutes of work on the soles of the feet. Nothing above the ankle. Not one hamstring stretch.

Retested. Most people reached farther.

Your feet hold 26 bones, 33 joints, and thousands of sensory receptors sending information to your brain with every step. That is a lot of input to ignore.

The good news is that none of this is permanent. Mobility improves at any age. Feet respond to training the same way every other part of you does.

You just have to give them a reason to.

Save this one and read it again barefoot.

ā€œI’ve been getting adjusted since I was 18… and I’d never experienced anything like this.ā€ šŸ‘‡

Most chiropractic care treats the symptom. You come in, you get cracked, you leave — and the pain comes back next week.

What stood out about Dr. Mackenzie’s approach was different: she didn’t just chase the pain. She found where it was actually coming from, built a real plan around it, and gave me something no other chiropractor ever had — forced accountability for my own body.

It wasn’t ā€œcome back when it hurts.ā€ It was a clear, actionable roadmap that made ME part of the healing. That’s the difference between temporary relief and lasting results.

If you’ve been bouncing from clinic to clinic wondering why nothing sticks — this is why. At Core Foundations Chiropractic in Cary, NC, we find the root cause, not just the crack.

Most people think a strong core starts with doing more sit-ups.

But if you notice your abdomen ā€œdomingā€ or ā€œconingā€ during a crunch, that’s a sign your body may not be managing pressure effectively.

Your core isn’t just your abs. It’s a coordinated system that includes your diaphragm, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, and deep spinal muscles—all working together with your breath to create stability.

At Core Foundations Chiropractic, we focus on building that foundation first. Better breathing. Better pressure management. Better core control. Because when your core functions well, movement becomes more efficient and your spine has the support it needs.

If you’ve noticed doming during exercise, are returning to movement after pregnancy, or just want to build a stronger foundation, we’d love to help.
