The garden is handing us everything at once right now, so that’s what we’re infusing. Calendula, chamomile, and lavender all came out of our garden this week and went straight into oil back at the shop.

Lavender infused oil and lavender night cream both land next week. The cayenne is still ripening, and when it’s ready we’ll be making our cayenne oil with peppers we grew ourselves.

Fresh infused oils are on the shelf now at 424 Main St, and the lavender pair is right behind them.

How many of these plants have you noticed lately? 🌿

August is a beautiful time to start paying closer attention to what’s growing around us here in the Catskills.

Goldenrod, yarrow, plantain, and dandelion are all familiar plants with long histories of traditional herbal use, and learning to recognize them is one of the simplest ways to deepen your connection to herbalism.

Save this post for your next walk and see how many you can spot.

For educational purposes only. Always positively identify a plant before harvesting or using it.

You don’t have to go far to reconnect with nature. 🌿

Take your shoes off and feel the ground beneath you. Make a cup of herbal tea and slow down enough to enjoy it. Step outside and notice what’s blooming, growing, buzzing, or changing with the season.

Small moments of connection can bring us back to ourselves and remind us that we’re part of nature, too.

What helps you feel most rooted? 🌱

Meet calendula, our bright, golden Herb of the Week and a summertime favorite. 🌼

Traditionally valued as a vulnerary, calendula is a beloved ally for supporting tissue repair and soothing dry, irritated, or weather-worn skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it especially useful after long days spent gardening, swimming, hiking, or enjoying the summer sun.

Calendula is also known for its gentle affinity for the lymphatic system, helping support healthy lymph flow and the body’s natural clearing processes. From minor scrapes and bug bites to sun-kissed skin, this cheerful flower has earned its place in warm-weather herbal care.

Come into our shop or visit stingingnettleny.com to explore our full calendula line. 🌿

You'll make your own salve, plus have the option to blend a tincture or glycerite to take home. All herbs, materials, and containers included.

Just four spots left. Link in bio to grab one.

On hot days, peppermint is our go-to, not because it lowers your temperature, but because it convinces your nerves it has.

The full explanation (and the receptor responsible) is on the blog now. Link in bio 🌿
